ABOUT US:
Join a team that is redefining the accessibility of space. Azista space is a transformative force in the global aerospace sector, uniquely positioned at the intersection of indigenous innovation and industrial scalability. Operating India’s first private-sector satellite mass-production facility in Ahmedabad, we have bridged the gap between complex engineering and high-volume manufacturing.
As a vertically integrated leader, we provide end-to-end solutions from the precision design of satellite buses and advanced payloads to mission management and communication systems. We don’t just build hardware, we are democratizing the final frontier by providing global clientele with the cost-effective, high-performance technology needed to power the next generation of orbital missions. At Azista, you won't just be starting a job, you’ll be fuelling the future of space exploration.
JOB SUMMARY:
As a Hardware Design Engineer, you will own the end-to-end architecture, design, and qualification of our next-generation On-Board Computer (OBC) systems. You will bridge complex digital system design with flight-ready reliability, taking mission-critical space electronics from concept through schematic design, PCB layout, rigorous environmental qualification, and flight release.
In this role, you will be the core technical owner for primary avionics metrics: power/signal integrity, radiation resilience, thermal derating margins, first-pass board bring-up success, and compliance with aerospace standards (ECSS, MIL-STD, NASA).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own OBC Architecture & Design: Architect, simulate, and design flight-grade On-Board Computer (OBC) electronics, power management subsystems, memory topologies, and high-speed communications interfaces.
- Lead Schematic & High-Speed PCB Execution:
Develop detailed schematics in modern EDA tools (Altium, OrCAD/Cadence) and steer layout teams for signal integrity, power integrity, and strict EMI/EMC mitigation.
- Drive Reliability & Margin Analysis: Conduct circuit simulations, SPICE modeling, parts stress/derating studies, FMECA, and worst-case circuit analyses tailored to extreme radiation and thermal vacuum environments.
- Hands-On Board Bring-Up & Debugging: Lead physical hardware bring-up, power sequencing validation, and root-cause troubleshooting using high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
- Deliver Cross-Functional Integration: Partner closely with FPGA, firmware, and aerospace systems teams to establish robust Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and smooth hardware-software integration.
- Execute Space Qualification & Testing: Guide flight hardware through comprehensive environmental qualification campaigns, including Thermal Vacuum (TVAC), vibration/shock, radiation testing (TID/SEE), and EMC compliance.
- Technical Mentorship: Champion engineering best practices, lead rigorous design reviews, and mentor junior hardware engineers across aerospace programs.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR?
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 4+ years of hands-on embedded hardware design experience,
with at least 2+ years dedicated to aerospace, defense, avionics, satellite systems, or high-reliability digital electronics.
- EDA & Tooling Mastery: Proven proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout platforms such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or OrCAD.
- High-Speed & Digital Protocols: Practical design experience with microprocessors/microcontrollers and high-speed interfaces (DDR memory, SpaceWire, Ethernet, CAN Bus, SPI, I2C, UART).
- Space Environment & Reliability Familiarity: Solid foundation in radiation effects (SEE, TID), space environmental constraints, and aerospace design standards (ECSS, MIL-STD-461, DO-254, or NASA standards).
- Testing & Lab Skills: Demonstrated track record in hands-on lab bring-up, signal probing, and bench-level hardware debugging.
PREFERRED / NICE-TO-HAVE:
- Direct experience with satellite avionics flight hardware, spacecraft buses, or launch campaign integration.
- Expertise with radiation-hardened / radiation-tolerant component selection and space derating guidelines.
- Experience with FPGA co-design, high-reliability New Product Introduction (NPI), and aerospace manufacturing workflows.
WHY JOIN US?
- Direct Orbital Impact: Build hardware that leaves Earth’s atmosphere and powers active space missions.
- Pioneering Ecosystem: Be part of India’s first mass-manufacturing satellite facility, combining rapid agile development with deep industrial scale.
- True End-to-End Ownership: Escape narrow component-level silos; own full subsystems from initial whiteboard architecture to flight qualification.
- Collaborative Deep-Tech Culture: Work alongside passionate aerospace, firmware, and systems engineers dedicated to democratizing the final frontier.
