Required Experience and Skills
- 3–4 years of professional experience working as a Game Designer.
- Must have contributed to at least 5 commercially released or publicly shipped games.
- Professional experience working on games for both mobile and PC platforms.
- Strong understanding of core game design principles, player psychology, engagement loops, progression, pacing, and difficulty balancing.
- Experience creating Game Design Documents, feature documents, wireframes, flowcharts, and balancing spreadsheets.
- Good understanding of level design, gameplay systems, rewards, achievements, and in-game economies.
- Basic understanding of UI/UX principles, including usability, information hierarchy, onboarding, navigation, and player feedback.
- Ability to communicate design ideas clearly to technical and non-technical team members.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Experience working in a collaborative and iterative game development environment.
- Familiarity with at least one major game engine, preferably Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Ability to receive feedback, evaluate it objectively, and improve designs through iteration.
Key Responsibilities
- Design engaging gameplay mechanics, systems, levels, progression loops, and player experiences.
- Create and maintain detailed Game Design Documents, feature specifications, flowcharts, wireframes, and balancing sheets.
- Develop game concepts from initial ideation through prototyping, production, testing, and release.
- Work closely with programmers and artists to ensure that design requirements are clearly communicated and implemented correctly.
- Design gameplay experiences suitable for both mobile and PC platforms.
- Create and balance progression systems, rewards, difficulty curves, in-game economies, and retention mechanics.
- Analyse player behaviour, playtest feedback,
and game data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct regular playtesting sessions and document actionable feedback.
- Review implemented features and ensure they align with the intended gameplay experience.
- Contribute to level design, mission design, tutorials, onboarding, and moment-to-moment gameplay.
- Collaborate effectively with UI/UX designers to create intuitive menus, user flows, HUD elements, and player interactions, while also demonstrating the ability to independently design, iterate, and implement UI solutions when required.
- Consider platform-specific requirements such as mobile input limitations, different screen sizes, PC controls, and performance constraints.
- Research competitor games, player trends, and emerging game design practices.
- Support the development team throughout production and help resolve design-related challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing casual, hyper-casual, mid-core, simulation, action, puzzle, or multiplayer games.
- Experience working with live games, analytics, retention systems, or live-operations content.
- Familiarity with prototyping tools, spreadsheet-based balancing, and visual scripting systems.
- Basic understanding of game monetisation systems, including premium, free-to-play, advertisements, and in-app purchases.
- Experience coordinating with UI/UX, art, programming, quality assurance, and production teams.
- A portfolio containing shipped games, design documents, prototypes, levels, systems, or case studies.
