Fund Manager – Category III AIF
We are looking for an experienced Fund Manager to lead investment strategy, portfolio construction and investment decision-making for a Category III Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) with a primary focus on listed equity securities.
This is a key investment management role for a professional with strong expertise in equity research, portfolio management, capital allocation, risk management and institutional investment processes, with the ability to make disciplined investment decisions across market cycles.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement the investment strategy of the Category III AIF, with a primary focus on listed equity securities.
- Construct and manage the Fund portfolio in accordance with the investment objective, risk-return framework, asset allocation parameters and regulatory requirements.
- Identify, analyse and execute investment opportunities in listed equity shares, equity-related instruments and other permitted securities.
- Undertake sector allocation, stock selection, portfolio rebalancing and exit decisions based on fundamentals, valuation, liquidity, market conditions and risk.
- Conduct detailed fundamental research on listed companies, sectors, macroeconomic trends, market cycles and regulatory developments.
- Evaluate financial statements, earnings performance, management quality, business models, competitive positioning, corporate governance and valuation.
- Prepare and review valuation models, financial projections, investment notes, risk assessments and investment memoranda.
- Monitor portfolio companies, including quarterly results, corporate actions, regulatory filings and material capital market developments.
- Take investment,
divestment and portfolio rebalancing decisions within the applicable delegated authority and investment framework.
- Coordinate with brokers, custodians, dealers, operations and compliance teams for trade execution and settlement.
- Monitor portfolio risks including market, concentration, liquidity, volatility, sector exposure, drawdown and counterparty risks.
- Review stress testing, scenario analysis and risk reports and recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures.
- Review portfolio performance against relevant benchmarks, internal targets and risk-adjusted return parameters.
- Prepare investment performance reviews and presentations for the Investment Committee and Board.
- Provide inputs for investor reporting, portfolio commentary, factsheets and regulatory / Trustee reporting.
- Ensure investment activities comply with SEBI regulations, fund documents, investment policies and applicable securities laws.
- Identify and manage actual or potential conflicts of interest and maintain high standards of fiduciary responsibility and professional conduct.
- Supervise and mentor investment analysts, research team members, dealers and investment support personnel.
- Review research outputs, investment notes, valuation workings and portfolio monitoring reports prepared by the investment team.
What We’re Looking For
- Professional qualification in Finance, Accountancy, Business Management, Commerce, Economics, Capital Markets or Banking, or equivalent relevant qualification.
- CFA / CA / MBA Finance / FRM / CAIA or equivalent professional qualification relevant to investment management, capital markets or portfolio management will be preferred.
- Relevant experience in AIFs, portfolio management, asset management, PMS, mutual funds, hedge funds, proprietary investment management, institutional equity investment or similar investment management roles.
- Demonstrated experience managing or materially contributing to investment portfolios involving listed equity securities.
- Strong experience in equity research, portfolio construction, investment decision-making, risk management and performance analysis.
- Experience with listed equity shares, equity-related instruments, derivatives, long-short strategies, sector rotation, factor-based strategies or other capital market strategies relevant to Category III AIFs.
- Working knowledge of SEBI AIF Regulations, capital market regulations, insider trading regulations, market conduct requirements and investment compliance processes.
- Prior experience as a Fund Manager, Portfolio Manager, Senior Investment Professional or equivalent in a Category III AIF, PMS, hedge fund, equity fund, institutional investment platform or proprietary investment desk will be preferred.
- Experience managing concentrated or diversified listed equity portfolios will be an advantage.
- Robust track record in equity investment analysis and portfolio performance across market cycles will be preferred.
Preferred Certification
NISM Series-XIX-E – Category III Alternative Investment Fund Managers Certification Examination will be preferred.
Compensation
Compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, current compensation and prevailing market standards.
