Role Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to join our team. This is a customer-facing consulting role where you will deploy and optimize enterprise database environments, implement AI-powered solutions, and act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in enterprise database deployments, distributed databases, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, DevOps, AI-powered solutions, and customer-facing technical consulting.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Deployment & Implementation

- Deploy, configure, and optimize enterprise database environments for customers.
- Install, configure, and support self-managed database clusters across cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
- Perform cluster sizing, architecture design, upgrades, migrations, and production readiness assessments.
- Configure high availability, disaster recovery, backup, security, and performance optimization.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, database, and deployment issues.

AI Solution Implementation

- Deploy and configure AI-powered analytics solutions for enterprise customers.
- Integrate AI solutions with customer datasets and enterprise workflows.
- Enable customers to leverage natural language queries and AI-powered analytics.
- Validate AI outputs, optimize prompts, and support customer adoption.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams by providing implementation feedback and product improvement recommendations.

Technical Consulting

- Serve as the primary technical advisor during customer implementations.
- Lead discovery sessions, technical workshops, and architecture reviews.
- Translate business objectives into scalable technical solutions.
- Recommend best practices for deployment, performance, scalability, and security.
- Produce high-quality technical documentation and implementation guides.

AI & Automation

- Leverage AI tools to accelerate deployments, troubleshooting, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
- Develop automation scripts to simplify repetitive deployment and operational tasks.




- Utilize modern AI coding assistants and productivity tools to improve engineering efficiency.
- Stay current with advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, and enterprise AI technologies.

Customer Success

- Build trusted relationships with customer stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams.
- Drive successful implementations while ensuring an exceptional customer experience.
- Mentor customer teams through knowledge transfer sessions and operational best practices.
- Collaborate with Customer Success and Support teams to ensure seamless project handoffs.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Professional Experience

- 8+ years of experience in Professional Services, Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, Forward Deployed Engineering, or Technical Consulting.
- Strong experience deploying enterprise software solutions in customer environments.
- Proven experience working directly with enterprise customers and technical stakeholders.

Database Technologies

- Experience with distributed SQL or relational databases such as PostgreSQL, CockroachDB, YugabyteDB, MySQL, or similar technologies.
- Strong database administration and performance tuning experience.
- Experience with database architecture, sizing, upgrades, migrations, high availability, disaster recovery, and production readiness.
- Experience with data ingestion and ETL pipelines.

Monitoring & Observability

- Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or similar monitoring platforms.
- Ability to troubleshoot system, database, infrastructure, and application performance issues.

Infrastructure & DevOps

- Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Ansible.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Strong Linux system administration skills.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications.




- Experience deploying and operating enterprise applications across cloud and/or on-premises environments.

Cloud Technologies

- Hands-on experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Networking

- Strong networking fundamentals including DNS, TLS/SSL, firewalls, load balancing, and network troubleshooting.

Programming & Automation

- Experience with Python, Bash, or other scripting languages.
- Ability to develop automation scripts for deployment, troubleshooting, and operational tasks.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and enterprise integrations.

AI & Modern Engineering Skills

- Familiarity with LLMs, AI agents, and enterprise AI technologies.
- Experience implementing or integrating AI-powered solutions is highly valuable.
- Ability to use AI coding assistants and LLM-based productivity tools.
- Understanding of prompt optimization, AI output validation, and AI-powered analytics.

Customer-Facing & Consulting Skills

- Excellent customer-facing communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to lead technical discovery sessions and architecture discussions.
- Strong consulting and problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Comfortable working with customer architects, engineering teams, developers, and senior stakeholders.
