Role Overview

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the installation, commissioning,

troubleshooting and maintenance of industrial stamping machines and automation systems.

Your primary responsibilities will be in PLC programming, IIoT implementation and machine trou-

bleshooting. You will also work closely with the mechanical and electrical aspects of the machines whenever required.

The role will involve working both at the Crimson facility and customer manufacturing sites.

Key Responsibilities

- PLC Programming & Automation
- Develop, modify and troubleshoot PLC programs for industrial machines.
- Understand and work with ladder logic, digital/analog I/O, timers, counters, interlocks and machine sequences.
- Troubleshoot PLC inputs, outputs, sensors, actuators and control circuits.
- Assist in commissioning and testing automated machines.
- Interface PLCs with VFDs, servo drives, sensors, relays, contactors and other industrial de-

vices.
- Understand and troubleshoot industrial communication such as Modbus and Ethernet-

based communication.
- IIoT & Machine Monitoring
- Implement and support IIoT solutions for industrial machines.
- Collect machine data such as:

o Production count o Machine status o Machine speed/SPM o Target quantity o Downtime o Alarms o Machine parameters
- Work with PLCs, industrial gateways and communication protocols to transfer machine data to IIoT platforms.
- Assist in MQTT/Modbus-based machine data communication.
- Troubleshoot communication issues between PLCs, gateways and servers.




- Support development and commissioning of machine-monitoring solutions.
- Stamping Machine Troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot electrical, control and automation problems in stamping machines and auto-

mated production lines.
- Identify faults related to:

o Sensors o PLCs o VFDs o Servo systems o Relays o Contactors o Solenoid valves o Feeders o Safety circuits o Machine sequencing
- Understand the operation of decoilers, straighteners, feeders and stamping presses.
- Assist in diagnosing production problems and machine downtime.
- Perform systematic root-cause analysis rather than simply replacing components.
- Mechanical Support

Although the primary role is PLC, IIoT and automation, the engineer should be comfortable assist-

ing with basic mechanical work whenever required.

This may include

- Basic machine assembly and adjustments
- Sensor and actuator mounting
- Mechanical alignment
- Feeder-related adjustments
- Basic troubleshooting of moving mechanisms
- Supporting installation and commissioning activities

Mechanical work will be occasional and will mainly be required when supporting machine instal-

lation, commissioning or troubleshooting.

- Field Service & Customer Support
- Travel to customer sites for installation, commissioning and troubleshooting.
- Understand customer problems and provide technical support.
- Communicate professionally with customers and explain technical issues clearly.
- Prepare service reports and document problems and solutions.
- Support preventive maintenance and machine improvement activities.
- Work with senior engineers during complex machine commissioning and troubleshooting.

Required Skills

- Basic understanding of electrical and electronic systems.
- Understanding of PLC and ladder logic.
- Basic knowledge of sensors and industrial automation.
- Understanding of motors, relays, contactors, VFDs and control circuits.




- Basic programming knowledge in C/Python/embedded systems is an advantage.
- Interest in IIoT and industrial communication.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and CAD is an advantage.
- Ability to read and understand electrical/control diagrams.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- Willingness to work at customer manufacturing sites and travel when required.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone who:
- Has a Mechatronics / Electrical / Electronics / Automation background.
- Enjoys working with machines and solving practical problems.
- Is willing to work hands-on at customer sites.
- Is interested in learning PLC programming and IIoT technologies.
- Can work across electrical, automation and basic mechanical systems.
- Is comfortable travelling for installation and service requirements.
- Is willing to learn from senior engineers and gradually take independent responsibility for machines.

Important

This is a field-oriented engineering role, not a desk-only programming position.

The engineer will get practical exposure to industrial stamping machines, PLCs, automation sys-

tems, IIoT, electrical control systems, machine commissioning and troubleshooting.

The expectation is that the engineer will gradually develop the ability to independently diagnose machine problems, modify PLC logic, commission IIoT systems and support customers in the field.
