Role Overview

We’re looking for a hands-on Embedded Systems Engineer to lead the design, board-level bringing-up, and electromechanical integration of our robot fleet and hardware platforms. You will own embedded electronics development end-to-end: from designing custom PCBs and power distribution boards to tuning high-power motor drivers, integrating multi-sensor arrays, and establishing rock-solid communication bus architecture.

Whether you're early in your career or bringing experience from fast-paced engineering teams, we value practical problem-solving, rapid iteration, and strong electronics and embedded fundamentals.

What you'll own

- Full-lifecycle PCB & hardware design — Schematic capture, PCB layout, component selection, and DFM/DFA for microcontroller, power management, and sensor carrier boards using modern EDA tools.
- Actuation & large motor integration — Interface, drive, and tune high-power motors (BLDC, brushed DC, steppers) alongside high-current motor controllers, optical encoders, and power distribution units.
- Bus architecture & protocol debugging — Implement and troubleshoot robust communication buses: CAN (CANopen, SocketCAN, CAN FD) and UART/serial, for low-latency sensor and actuator telemetry.
- Sensor packaging & signal integrity — Integrate multi-sensor suites (LiDAR, IMUs, cameras, hall-effect sensors) with clean routing, noise filtering, and isolation against high-power motor EMI.
- Prototyping & lab diagnostics — Bring up new PCB revisions with oscilloscopes,

logic analyzers, and multimeters; hands-on soldering, SMD rework, and harness fabrication.
- Firmware & test scripting — Write low-level diagnostic firmware (C/C++) and Python/Bash automation to stress-test microcontrollers, parse log feeds, and run hardware acceptance testing.
- Designing to military standards — Build electronic systems intended to meet military environmental and EMI requirements (MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 class).

Required Qualifications

- 2+ years of embedded systems engineering experience, or hands-on hardware/electronics build experience on a Formula SAE team or equivalent field-robotics project.
- Proven track record of designing, laying out, and populating custom multi-layer PCBs that interface directly with microcontrollers and power electronics.
- Practical knowledge of low-level serial interfaces (UART, CAN, SPI, I2C) and experience isolating packet drops or physical-layer faults.
- Comfortable debugging at the signal level with a scope or logic analyzer, on real boards.

Nice to have

- B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Mechatronics, or Robotics — helpful, not required. A solid build record beats it.
- High-current motor drive experience, and layout practice for EMI-heavy environments.
- RTOS or bare-metal firmware development.
- Experience integrating cameras or vision pipelines on embedded compute.
- Any background in defense, aerospace, or field-deployed embedded systems.
