Role Purpose

Support the Axis Max Life’s contract function and provide strategic legal advisory support across business, operations, technology, distribution, marketing and corporate functions. Drive business growth through pragmatic legal solutions, contract governance, regulatory compliance and risk management.

Job Responsibilities

Contract Management & Negotiation

- Drafting, review, negotiation and closure of complex commercial contracts.
- Handle technology, cloud, SaaS, outsourcing, procurement, consulting, vendor and service agreements.
- Review insurance distribution agreements including corporate agents, brokers, web aggregators, bancassurance and strategic partners.
- Develop contract templates, playbooks and approval frameworks.
- Provide commercially balanced solutions while protecting legal and regulatory interests.

Business & Strategic Advisory

- Advise on new business initiatives, products, partnerships and operating models.
- Conduct legal and regulatory impact assessments of new laws and IRDAI requirements.
- Support corporate governance, property-related matters and strategic projects.

Marketing & Customer Initiatives

- Review marketing campaigns, digital marketing initiatives, advertisements and customer communications.
- Support sponsorship, co-branding, influencer, licensing and strategic partnership arrangements.
- Ensure compliance with insurance, advertising, consumer protection and privacy laws.

Human Resource (HR)





- Providing guidance and support to HR on different labor issues (gratuity, provident fund, ESI, statutory bonus, leaves etc)

Regulatory, Compliance & Data Privacy

- Provide legal support on IRDAI regulations, outsourcing governance and compliance matters.
- Review responses to inspections, audits, notices and complaints.
- Advise on data privacy, information security, AI adoption and data-sharing initiatives.

Intellectual Property Rights (IPR):

- Managing and overseeing all intellectual property-related matters, including identification, protection, registration, maintenance, and enforcement of trademarks, copyrights, patents, and other intellectual property assets.

Contract Governance & Digital Transformation

- Drive CLM, workflow automation, e-contracting and digital repository initiatives.
- Implement SOPs, governance standards and reporting mechanisms.
- Support contract audits, vendor risk management and outsourcing reviews.

Stakeholder & Team

- Partner with business, technology, procurement, HR, compliance, risk and finance teams.
- Manage external counsel and deliver legal training programs. Mentor team members and drive operational excellence.

Work Experience

- 12–14 years of experience in insurance, BFSI, technology-intensive organizations or leading law firms.
- Robust expertise in high-value commercial, technology, outsourcing and distribution contracts.
- Working knowledge of IRDAI regulations, data privacy and outsourcing frameworks (preferred).
