Role Description You own the data models, the metric definitions, and the BI reporting surface every brand team uses.

Two domain analysts contribute models into the same dbt project. You set the standards they build inside and review their work. Ingestion and orchestration sit outside this role, so the work is modeling and reporting rather than connectors and scheduling.

Qualifications

- 4–7 years in analytics engineering, BI engineering or data engineering, including time accountable for a production reporting layer used by non-technical stakeholders.
- Advanced SQL: window functions, incremental logic, and query performance tuning.




- Production dbt experience: a project they designed, maintained and refactored.
- A cloud data warehouse in a production setting. BigQuery preferred; Snowflake, Redshift or Databricks acceptable.
- Power BI semantic modeling rather than report building alone: star-schema dataset design, a DAX measure library they authored, Power Query / M transformations, row-level security, and workspace or deployment-pipeline governance.
- Git-based workflow with peer code review and CI.
- Python for scripting and transformation work.
- Has owned metric definitions in a prior role: decided what a metric means, documented it, and maintained it across teams.

Preferred

- Retail, ecommerce, apparel or CPG data, including how returns and markdowns affect net sales and margin.
- Multi-brand or multi-business-unit modeling with row-level access control.
- Microsoft Fabric, Power BI Premium capacity management, or on-premises data gateway administration.
- Looker Studio or another self-serve BI tool alongside Power BI.
- Has trained non-technical business users on a BI tool and supported them afterward: office hours, documentation, a dataset catalog or an internal enablement program.
- Dimensional modeling training or Kimball-style experience.
- Pipeline and orchestration experience: Cloud Run, Airflow, Dagster or similar.
- Experience consolidating a large report estate.
