Business Data Analyst

Location: India, Remote

Time Zone: Must be able to work with significant overlap with EST business hours up to 2PM.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Business Analyst specializing in Data to translate business needs into clear data and reporting requirements. The ideal candidate will work with business stakeholders, data engineers, analysts, and technical teams to improve data quality, reporting, and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

- Gather and document business, data, reporting, and analytics requirements.
- Translate business needs into functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Analyze data sources, data flows, business rules, and system dependencies.
- Perform data mapping, profiling, validation, and reconciliation.
- Identify data-quality issues and work with technical teams to resolve them.
- Define KPIs, metrics, dashboards, and reporting requirements.
- Support data migration, data integration, and transformation initiatives.
- Facilitate requirement workshops and stakeholder discussions.
- Assist with testing, UAT, defect tracking, and solution validation.
- Maintain process flows, data dictionaries, mapping documents, and requirement traceability.
- Communicate findings,



risks, and recommendations to business and technical stakeholders.

Required Skills and Experience

- Experience as a Business Analyst on data, reporting, analytics, or data migration projects.
- Solid SQL skills for data analysis and validation.
- Experience gathering and documenting data requirements.
- Knowledge of data mapping, profiling, lineage, quality, and reconciliation.
- Understanding of databases, data warehouses, ETL/ELT, and data integration.
- Experience creating business requirement documents, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
- Experience supporting UAT and defect resolution.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to translate between business and technical teams.

Nice-to-Have Skills

- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar reporting tools.
- Exposure to cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Knowledge of Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or similar platforms.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery and tools such as Jira or Confluence.
- Understanding of data governance, privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Relevant certification such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, or Microsoft Power BI.
