Spirit of the Earth is a heritage rice conservation and food initiative working to revive India’s indigenous rice varieties and create high-quality, contemporary food products from them.

Our work connects biodiversity, farming, food, culture and sustainability—from our farm and seed bank in Tamil Nadu to our store and immersion space in Chennai.

We are looking for an energetic, entrepreneurial Brand & Market Development Executive to help us grow the business, build our community and take the Spirit of the Earth story to a larger audience.

What You’ll Do

Grow our Chennai presence

Build relationships with customers, chefs, food businesses, wellness communities and relevant networks.

Drive store awareness, footfall and community engagement.

Organise events, tastings, workshops and collaborations.

Develop partnerships that create visibility and word-of-mouth.

Develop new markets

Identify opportunities across India in gourmet, specialty retail and modern trade.

Build relationships with retailers, distributors, chefs and institutions.

Follow up on leads and turn conversations into business opportunities.

Gather market insights to support expansion.

Events & Market Expansion

Identify relevant food, sustainability, lifestyle and cultural events.

Explore pop-ups, showcases and collaborations in cities such as Mumbai, Delhi and beyond.





Represent the brand and build meaningful customer and partner relationships.

Brand Representation

Communicate our story around heritage rice, biodiversity, farming, farmers and food with authenticity.

Work with the team on launches, campaigns and market development.

Who We’re Looking For

5+ years of experience in business development, sales, marketing, retail, FMCG, hospitality, events, partnerships, community building or entrepreneurship.

You should be

A natural people person and confident networker.

Proactive, resourceful and comfortable working independently.

Commercially minded while valuing long-term relationships.

A robust communicator and authentic brand representative.

Curious about food, farming, sustainability, biodiversity or culture.

Comfortable travelling across India when required.

Excited to work in a small, entrepreneurial environment where initiative matters.
