Role Description The Assistant Factory Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at Mercely’s production facility in Dharmapuri. This role supports the Factory Manager in overseeing daily manufacturing operations, ensuring production schedules are met while maintaining product quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities include coordinating production planning, monitoring line performance, supervising factory staff, and enforcing hygiene and compliance protocols. The individual will work closely with quality, maintenance and supply chain teams to optimize workflows, reduce downtime and manage raw material usage. The role also involves preparing operational reports, supporting continuous improvement initiatives and helping implement new processes or equipment to enhance efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Management:



Manage the entire production process from raw-material preparation to finished-product transfer.
2. SOP Implementation: Develop, standardise and enforce SOPs for production, cleaning, hygiene, safety and process control.
3. Shift Management: Plan shifts, deploy manpower and ensure smooth production across all operating hours.
4. Quality & Food Safety: Ensure compliance with FSSAI, GMP, HACCP and internal quality standards.
5. Planning & Output: Convert production plans into shift-wise schedules and ensure timely stock availability.
6. Efficiency Control: Monitor yield, wastage, downtime, productivity and production costs.
7. Team Leadership: Lead, train and evaluate production supervisors, operators and shop-floor employees.
8. Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with Quality, Maintenance, Stores, Procurement, R&D; and Dispatch teams.

Candidate Profile

1. Graduate with more than five years of managerial experience in food manufacturing or processing. Lady candidates preffered.
2. B.Tech/B.E. in Food Technology is preferred.
3. Proven experience operating a food processing plant; dairy or ice cream experience is strongly preferred.
4. Strong knowledge of production planning, shift operations, SOPs, hygiene and food safety systems.
5. Experience managing production teams, automated processing equipment and high volume operations.
6. Comfortable working in rotational shifts and handling factory level operational challenges.
7. Proficiency in production reporting, ERP systems and performance analysis.
8. Ability to communicate effectively in Tamil; Hindi and English will be an advantage.
