About the roleFloaid is building indigenous cardiovascular support systems, including a catheter pump and heart-lung machine. We are hiring a hands-on CNC professional to own programming, setup, prove-out and repeat production of small, complex, high-precision components such as impellers, inflow connectors and outflow connectors. This is not a loading-and-unloading operator role: the person must be able to convert a drawing/CAD model into a stable, inspected machining process.
Machine and process environment· simultaneous 5-axis machining with 3+2 and 4+1 capability.
· 4 kW, 40,000 rpm high-speed spindle with manufacturer-stated runout below 1 micrometre.
· X/Y/Z/B/C travel: 180/300/150 mm/0-115 degrees/plus or minus 360 degrees; 15-tool ATC with tool-length sensing and wear compensation.
· touchscreen CNC controller and RhinoNC Premium 5-axis CAM; training will be provided on the exact machine and software.
· Typical materials: PEEK and other engineering polymers, SS 316/316L, titanium and prototype materials; typical work involves micro-tools and delicate features.
Key responsibilities· Review 2D drawings, 3D models, GD&T;, tolerances, surface-finish requirements and raw-material condition before programming.
· Create and optimise 3+2, 4+1 and simultaneous 5-axis toolpaths; select machining strategy, tools, holders, feeds, speeds, stepovers and stock allowances.
· Generate and validate NC code/post-processor output; perform simulation, collision checking, dry runs and safe first-part prove-out.
· Set work offsets, tool offsets, fixtures,
zero points and probing/tool-length routines; independently set up and operate the machine.
· Machine precision impellers and catheter-pump connectors while controlling burrs, tool deflection, thermal effects, runout and thin-feature distortion.
· Inspect first-off and in-process components using suitable instruments such as micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, optical measurement systems and CMM reports; record results and make controlled offset corrections.
· Develop and improve fixtures, soft jaws, sacrificial supports and workholding for small parts, including impellers with and without shafts.
· Establish tool-life limits and maintain tool lists, setup sheets, revision-controlled programs, inspection records, cycle-time data and traceability documents.
· Perform daily machine checks, coolant/lubrication monitoring, spindle warm-up, chip management and preventive-maintenance coordination; escalate abnormal noise, vibration, runout or dimensional drift.
· Work closely with design, manufacturing, quality and R&D; teams to improve manufacturability, repeatability, yield and cycle time under Floaid's ISO 13485 quality system.
Must-have qualifications· Diploma/ITI/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Tool & Die, Manufacturing or a related discipline.
· 5+ years of CNC milling experience, including hands-on multi-axis setup and programming; candidates with at least 2 years of simultaneous 5-axis work will be preferred.
· Demonstrated ability to independently take a precision part from drawing/model through CAM, setup, prove-out, inspection and repeat production.
· Sound understanding of GD&T;, datum strategy, cutting-tool geometry, workholding, cutting parameters, cutter compensation, tool wear and root-cause troubleshooting.
· Experience machining small, complex components with tight tolerances and fine surface finishes using high-speed spindles and small-diameter tools.
· Working knowledge of CAM simulation and collision avoidance. Experience on RhinoNC/RhinoCAM is preferred; strong experience in hyperMILL, Mastercam, Siemens NX CAM, PowerMill or Fusion 360 Manufacture is transferable.
· Ability to read and maintain setup sheets, inspection records and revision-controlled manufacturing documentation in English.
Preferred experience· Medical-device, aerospace, dental, watch, mould, micro-machining or other high-precision regulated manufacturing.
· Machining PEEK, SS 316/316L, titanium or cobalt-chrome; impeller/bladed-part machining is highly desirable.
· Toolpath optimisation for swarf, flowline, multi-axis contouring, rest machining and indexed/simultaneous finishing.
· First-article inspection, capability studies, SPC, MSA, nonconformance/CAPA support and ISO 13485 or AS9100 documentation.
· Fixture design and basic CAD capability; familiarity with optical metrology or CMM inspection.
Practical selection process· Technical interview covering datum selection, setup planning, feeds/speeds, collision risks, inspection and troubleshooting.
· CAM exercise on a small 5-axis component or impeller-like geometry, including tool selection and simulation.
· Hands-on prove-out/operating assessment on a comparable 5-axis machine, where feasible.
