Description
WSP's Global Capability Center (GCC) India is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support the US Earth & Environment business.
This position will serve as a technical delivery resource supporting multidisciplinary environmental, mining, remediation, and/or civil infrastructure projects across the United States. The role is focused on geotechnical engineering analyses, design support, numerical modeling, report preparation, and digital delivery, working closely with US-based geotechnical, environmental, hydrogeological, mining, or remediation teams. The candidate will work with field data collected by US teams and provide technical interpretation, modeling, design support, documentation, and QA/QC services.
Responsibilities
- Perform geotechnical engineering analyses utilizing information from field investigations conducted by US-based teams.
- Interpret geotechnical investigations, laboratory testing results, subsurface data, geologic mapping, and groundwater information.
- Develop engineering recommendations related to settlement, bearing capacity, slope stability, earth pressures, seepage, liquefaction, ground improvement and geo hazards.
- Assist with design and evaluation of deep and shallow foundations, retaining structures, earth retaining systems, embankments, dams, levees, and waste containment facilities.
- Perform and review slope stability analyses, seepage analyses, settlement analyses, consolidation analyses, earthworks evaluations, ground improvement studies, foundation and geohazard analyses.
- Prepare geotechnical reports, including development of design calculations, engineering specifications, and design packages. Develop geotechnical appendices for environmental reports.
Produce engineering figures, cross-sections, and drawings.
- Develop subsurface models, create borehole logs, and conduct geotechnical QA/QC Reviews.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or closely related discipline. 5-7 years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated geotechnical design and analysis experience within a consulting engineering environment. Experience supporting environmental, mining, water, energy, or infrastructure projects.
- Solid understanding of soil and rock mechanics, groundwater fundamentals, geotechnical and geohazard assessments, foundation engineering, and earthworks engineering.
- Software experience: gINT, OpenGround, PLAXIS 2D/3D, GeoStudio, SLIDE, SLOPE/W, Settle3, L-Pile, etc.
- Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- Robust communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Qualified Engineer (PE) license in the United States.
- Experience supporting US-based geotechnical projects.
- Familiarity with California seismic engineering practices.
