Job Description Job Title: 3D Modeler Artist – Immersive Surgical Training n Department: Immersive Technologies. n Location: Vapi, Gujarat – On-site n Reports To: XR Lead n Job Purpose: n To create high-quality, production-ready 3D assets for an immersive surgical training and robotic simulation platform, including surgical instruments, robotic console components, operating-room environments, medical equipment, and anatomical models. The role will support the end-to-end 3D asset pipeline by developing optimized models from references, CAD data, technical drawings, and clinical inputs for integration into real-time simulation environments. n Key Responsibilities: n 1. 3D Modeling & Asset Development n • Create high-quality 3D models of surgical instruments, medical devices, robotic console components, operating-room environments, and supporting assets. n • Develop both hard-surface and organic models based on photographs, technical references, CAD data, drawings, and clinical inputs. n • Ensure models accurately represent real-world dimensions, proportions, geometry, and functional characteristics. n • Maintain clean topology, proper edge flow, object hierarchy, naming conventions, and real-world scale. n 2. Real-Time & Simulation-Ready Asset Preparation n • Create optimized 3D assets suitable for real-time rendering and interactive surgical simulation. n • Develop LOD-ready models where required and maintain appropriate polygon budgets for real-time performance. n • Ensure correct pivots, transforms, orientation, scale, and hierarchy for downstream integration. n • Optimize meshes while maintaining the required visual quality and geometric accuracy. n • Prepare assets for integration into Unity and other real-time simulation environments. n 3. Surgical & Medical Asset Development n • Develop realistic 3D representations of surgical instruments, robotic systems, medical equipment, operating-room environments, and anatomical structures. n • Work with clinical and medical experts to understand surgical workflows, instrument usage, and anatomical requirements. n • Incorporate clinical and technical feedback into 3D asset development. n • Ensure appropriate visual and dimensional accuracy for surgical training and simulation applications. n 4. CAD, Reference & Mesh Preparation n • Convert and optimize CAD/reference data for use in real-time 3D environments. n • Perform basic CAD cleanup, mesh optimization, retopology, and geometry preparation.
n • Prepare clean meshes for handover to sculpting, texturing, rigging, animation, and technical-art teams. n • Perform basic UV layout and ensure assets are appropriately structured for downstream texturing. n 5. Cross-Functional Collaboration n • Work closely with 3D Artists, Technical Artists, Unity Developers, Simulation Engineers, Clinical Experts, and XR teams. n • Participate in regular production and pipeline review meetings. n • Coordinate with downstream artists for sculpting, texturing, rigging, and animation requirements. n • Proactively communicate technical challenges, dependencies, quality issues, and production blockers. n • Contribute to improving the overall 3D production pipeline and asset development standards. n 6. Documentation, Version Control & Quality n • Follow established asset naming, folder structure, modeling, and production standards. n • Maintain asset versions using Git, Git LFS, or the approved Digital Asset Management (DAM) workflow. n • Document polygon budgets, LOD structure, asset versions, references, and known issues where required. n • Perform quality checks on geometry, topology, scale, pivots, naming, and performance before asset handover. n • Ensure timely delivery of assets according to project milestones and production requirements. n 7. Innovation & Learning n • Contribute to the development of next-generation immersive surgical training and robotic simulation technologies. n • Explore recent techniques for 3D modeling, optimization, visualization, and real-time simulation. n • Stay updated with emerging technologies in 3D modeling, XR/VR/AR, medical visualization, gaming, and simulation. n • Contribute to process improvements and innovative approaches for creating realistic medical and surgical assets. n Qualifications and Experience: n • Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech / Bachelor's degree / equivalent qualification in 3D Design, Animation, Game Art, Multimedia, Visual Effects, or a related field. n • 4–6 years of professional experience in 3D modeling and asset development.
n • Strong professional experience with Autodesk Maya and/or Blender. n • Experience in game-ready, simulation-ready, or real-time 3D asset production. n • Experience with hard-surface and/or organic modeling. n • Experience creating 3D assets from references, photographs, technical drawings, or CAD data. n • Experience working within a multi-artist or production pipeline is preferred. n • Experience in medical visualization, surgical simulation, gaming, XR/VR/AR, automotive visualization, or digital-twin projects will be an added advantage. n Skills and Competencies: n • Strong proficiency in Maya and/or Blender. n • Strong understanding of hard-surface and organic 3D modeling. n • Good understanding of topology, retopology, UVs, polygon optimization, and LODs. n • Understanding of real-time asset preparation and Unity workflows. n • Basic knowledge of Git / Git LFS or equivalent version-control workflows. n • Strong attention to detail and visual accuracy. n • Ability to interpret technical drawings, CAD data, and real-world references. n • Good understanding of scale, pivots, transforms, hierarchy, and asset organization. n • Strong communication and collaboration skills. n • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment involving artists, engineers, clinicians, and technical teams. n • Passion for 3D visualization, simulation, immersive technologies, and medical technology. n Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): n • Quality, accuracy, and visual fidelity of 3D assets developed. n • Timely completion of assigned modeling and asset-development activities. n • Compliance with topology, polygon, scale, pivot, naming, and LOD standards. n • First-pass acceptance rate of submitted assets. n • Quality and efficiency of CAD/reference-to-production asset conversion. n • Successful handover of clean assets to sculpting, texturing, technical-art, and Unity teams. n • Compliance with real-time performance and optimization requirements. n • Effective collaboration and timely resolution/escalation of production issues. n • Contribution to development and continuous improvement of the immersive surgical training platform. n Portfolio Requirement: n • Candidates must submit a professional portfolio demonstrating relevant 3D modeling work. n • Portfolio should preferably include hard-surface assets, environments, medical/surgical instruments, wireframes/topology, and real-time/game/simulation-ready models.
