We are looking for an experienced Chief Sub Editor for HerZindagi Hindi who can independently handle writing, editing and content planning for a women-centric digital platform.

The role requires someone with excellent command over Hindi, strong editorial judgement and mature content sensibilities. The candidate should be capable of working independently without requiring regular intervention on language, grammar, story treatment or editorial decisions.

Key Responsibilities

- Independently identify, select and develop relevant stories for HerZindagi Hindi across lifestyle and women-centric categories.
- Write high-quality Hindi content with strong command over *grammar, sentence construction, vocabulary and overall language*.
- Demonstrate mature editorial judgement while selecting news, trends and topics relevant to the HerZindagi audience.
- Independently decide the appropriate *angle, treatment and structure* of a story.
- Edit and improve copies written by junior team members, including language, grammar, structure, headlines and overall presentation.
- Mentor junior writers and provide constructive editorial feedback to improve the overall quality of the team.
- Write and edit engaging, digital-friendly headlines without compromising accuracy or context.
- Understand the difference between a trending topic and a story that is genuinely relevant to the HerZindagi audience.
- Identify content opportunities around women, lifestyle, relationships, family, career, finance, fashion, beauty, food, travel and entertainment.
- Keep track of current affairs, social trends,



search trends and conversations relevant to women.
- Ensure factual accuracy and responsible treatment of sensitive topics.
- Work closely with the team lead, SEO and other stakeholders on content planning and traffic opportunities.
- Take ownership of assigned content and deliver stories independently within timelines.

Key Requirement
- Excellent written Hindi is mandatory.
- Strong editing and copy-reviewing skills.
- Ability to independently write and publish high-quality stories.
- Solid editorial judgement and the ability to distinguish between relevant and irrelevant news/content opportunities.
- Ability to independently identify story ideas and decide their treatment rather than depending on a senior for day-to-day story selection.
- Ability to edit and improve the work of junior writers and explain corrections to them.
- Strong headline-writing skills.
- Prior experience in a digital newsroom/content platform.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced newsroom environment and handling breaking/trending content when required.

Preferred Experience

- 6-8 years of editorial/content experience, preferably with a Hindi digital publication.
- Previous experience as a Senior Sub Editor/Chief Sub Editor or in a similar editorial role.
- Experience working with lifestyle, women-centric, entertainment or service-oriented content would be preferred.
- Experience managing/editing the work of junior editorial resources will be an advantage.
