DGM - Direct Tax Litigation

Direct Taxation, Transfer Pricing & Litigation
Lead direct tax assessments, reassessments, TDS, Transfer Pricing, penalty and rectification proceedings, including coordination with tax authorities, drafting of replies and timely resolution of matters.
Develop and implement tax litigation strategy by evaluating technical positions, judicial precedents, litigation risks and financial exposure, and recommend appropriate legal remedies.
Represent the Company before Income-tax Authorities, DRP, CIT(A), ITAT and other appellate forums, in coordination with external tax advisors and legal counsels.
Draft and review appeals, grounds of appeal, statements of facts, written submissions, objections, rejoinders, rectification applications, stay petitions, writ petitions and other legal pleadings.
Brief and coordinate with external counsels and senior advocates, preparing case briefs covering facts, chronology, legal issues, supporting documents and relevant judicial precedents for effective representation.
Coordinate with Finance, Legal,



Business and other stakeholders to develop facts, validate computations, collate evidence and support Company's tax positions.
Monitor tax law amendments, CBDT guidance and judicial developments, assess their impact on the Company.
Support Head – Taxation in managing high-value and complex tax disputes and strategic direct tax matters, with a focus on effective risk mitigation and timely resolution.
Qualifications & Experience
Chartered Accountant (CA)/LLB with 10–12 years of post-qualification experience in direct tax assessments and litigation.
Proven experience in handling litigation before CIT(A), DRP, ITAT.
Robust knowledge of the Income-tax Act, tax procedures, and judicial precedents.
Excellent drafting, analytical, research, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Prior relevant experience with a Big Four firm, law firm or a corporate tax function will be an advantage.
