1. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Process Planning & Optimization

Method Engineering: Defining the sequence of operations (cutting, rolling, fit-up, welding, heat

treatment, and blasting/painting).

Bottleneck Analysis: Identifying constraints in high-value machinery like CNC plasma cutters,

plate rolling machines, or floor boring machines.

Layout Design: Designing the shop floor to handle massive components, ensuring crane

availability and minimizing travel waste of heavy parts.

Productivity & Cost Control

Work Measurement: Establishing standard man-hours for complex tasks like multi-pass welding

or manual grinding.

Consumable Tracking: Monitoring and reducing the waste of high-cost items like welding gases,

wires, and grinding wheels.

Cycle Time Reduction: Implementing jigs and fixtures to reduce fit-up time.

Project Integration (The IE-PM Link)

Resource Leveling: Ensuring manpower (especially certified welders) is distributed across

projects to meet delivery milestones.

Capacity Planning: Determining if the plant can take on a recent 500-ton vessel project based on

current floor space and crane capacity.

Manufacturing Knowledge Proficiency in Welding Procedures (WPS/PQR), ASME/API codes, and

Management tools (MS Project/Primavera).

Lean Tools 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and Root Cause Analysis

(RCA).

Digital Twin Technology: Simulating the movement of large vessels through the shop floor to prevent

seams.

IoT Integration: Using sensors on welding machines to track
