Agnikul Cosmos is a company incubated at IIT Madras and we build rockets that can take satellites up to 500 kg to Lower Earth Orbit (LEO). In May 2024, we successfully completed our maiden launch from our own launchpad (India's first private launchpad). The launch has proven all the current technologies developed by Agnikul and also earned recognition from Honourable Prime Minister of India.
We are looking for a Thermal Analysis Engineer to own thermal analysis and thermal-fluid modelling of rocket engines, propulsion systems, tanks, feed systems, avionics and launch-vehicle subsystems. This is a hands-on engineering role where analysis is expected to directly influence hardware design, testing and qualification.
Responsibilities
Perform steady-state and transient thermal analyses of launch-vehicle and propulsion hardware.
Develop thermal models at component, subsystem and system levels.
Perform heat-transfer analysis involving:Conduction, Convection, Radiation, Conjugate heat transfer, Thermal-fluid networks




Develop 0-D/1-D thermal resistance and thermal-fluid network models for system-level involving multiphase analysis.
Perform thermal analysis of cryogenic propellant systems including tank heat leak, stratification, boil-off and self-pressurisation.
Perform thermal analysis of rocket engine cooling systems
Perform thermal trade studies and recommend design solutions considering temperature limits, mass, performance and manufacturability.Determine component and system-level thermal margins.
Generate thermal boundary conditions and temperature fields for structural and thermo-mechanical analyses.
Support selection and sizing of insulation, radiation shields, heat sinks, heat straps and other thermal-control solutions.
Support thermal test planning, instrumentation selection and test-data analysis.
Investigate thermal anomalies and failure mechanisms and recommend corrective actions.
Develop engineering tools and automate analysis workflows using Python, MATLAB
