Role & responsibilities
Manage end-to-end procurement of fruits and vegetables.
Source quality produce at competitive prices from farmers, suppliers, and vendors.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers.
Monitor market prices, seasonal trends, demand, and availability.
Ensure optimum stock levels, freshness, quality, and minimal wastage.
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Coordinate with Stores, Supply Chain, Quality, and Merchandising teams.
Analyse sales, margins, inventory, shrinkage, and wastage to improve profitability.
Ensure compliance with quality, food safety, and company procurement standards.

Preferred candidate profile

Robust knowledge of fruits & vegetables and fresh produce markets

Experience in retail buying/procurement

Robust negotiation and vendor-management skills

Understanding of seasonal sourcing, pricing, quality, and margins

Valuable analytical and communication skills

Experience with large-format retail, supermarket, hypermarket, or FMCG preferred
