Job Title: Fire & Safety Officer
Department: Health, Safety & Workplace (HSE)
Reports To: HSE Manager / Plant Manager / Site Manager

Job Summary

The Fire & Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and maintaining fire prevention, occupational health, and workplace safety programs. The role ensures compliance with applicable safety regulations, conducts inspections, identifies hazards, and promotes a safe working environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor fire and safety policies, procedures, and emergency response plans.
- Conduct regular workplace safety inspections and fire risk assessments.
- Identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with local fire safety regulations and company HSE standards.
- Organize and conduct fire drills, emergency evacuation exercises, and safety training programs.
- Inspect and maintain firefighting equipment, fire alarm systems, hydrants, extinguishers, and emergency exits.




- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and fire-related events, and prepare investigation reports.
- Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure adherence to safety requirements.
- Issue work permits for high-risk activities such as hot work, confined space entry, and work at height.
- Maintain safety records, inspection reports, incident logs, and statutory documentation.
- Promote safety awareness through toolbox talks, campaigns, and employee engagement programs.
- Coordinate with emergency services and regulatory authorities during inspections or emergencies.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Fire & Safety Engineering, Industrial Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
- Certification in Fire & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Valid first aid and fire safety training certifications are an advantage.
