Roles and Responsibilities
Conduct pre-anesthesia evaluations and assessments of patients' medical histories and physical conditions.
Develop personalized anesthesia plans based on patient needs and medical history.
Monitor patients' vital signs and adjust anesthesia levels accordingly.
Administer general anesthesia, sedation, regional anesthesia, or local anesthesia as needed during surgeries or procedures.
Provide perioperative anaesthesia care for patients undergoing spine and spinal deformity procedures.
Preoperative assessment and optimization of patients with complex spinal pathology and comorbidities.
Develop and administer appropriate anaesthesia plans under consultant supervision.
Gain exposure to general anaesthesia, regional techniques and multimodal analgesia relevant to spine surgery.
Manage intraoperative haemodynamic and respiratory challenges during major spine procedures.
Gain experience in prone-position anaesthesia, airway management and prevention/recognition of position-related complications.
Participate in perioperative management of major blood loss, fluid therapy and transfusion strategies.
Gain exposure to neuromonitoring considerations, including SSEP/MEP, and anaesthetic implications during spine surgery.
Manage postoperative pain and participate in enhanced recovery pathways.
Provide perioperative care for patients in ICU/HDU when required.
Participate in emergency management and management of perioperative complications.
Work closely with spine surgeons, intensivists, neurologists and other multidisciplinary teams.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with hospital protocols.
