Job Description – Fire Alarm System Service Engineer / Technician
*Position- Fire Alarm System Service Engineer / Technician

*Job Location- Site-based / Project Locations
*Job Purpose:
The Fire Alarm System Service Engineer/Technician will be responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and servicing of Fire Alarm and Life Safety Systems at customer sites.
*Key Responsibilities:
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of Fire Alarm Systems as per the approved Scope of Work (SOW), OEM recommendations, and site safety procedures.
• Inspect and maintain Fire Alarm Control Panels, Smoke Detectors, Heat Detectors, Manual Call Points (MCP), Hooters/Sounders, Strobes, Modules, Relays, Power Supply Units, Batteries, and associated field devices.
• Perform testing of detectors, MCPs, sounders, modules, interfaces, and alarm/monitoring circuits.
• Identify and troubleshoot faults related to fire alarm panels, loops, zones, communication circuits, power supply, batteries, field devices, and cabling.
• Carry out testing and verification of input/output modules and their interfacing with other systems such as HVAC, fire pumps, elevators, access control, BMS, and other associated systems.
• Check alarm, fault, supervisory, and trouble indications and take necessary corrective action.
• Clean, test, replace, program, and commission defective detectors and other fire alarm devices where required.
• Carry out loop continuity, cable continuity, insulation, and related field wiring checks.
• Maintain proper records of preventive maintenance, breakdown calls, testing activities, observations, and corrective actions.
• Prepare daily service reports, maintenance reports, inspection reports, and material/spares requirements.
• Coordinate with the client/site representative for shutdowns,
testing, mock drills, and system restoration.
• Attend emergency breakdown/service calls and resolve system faults within the required response time.
• Support installation, commissioning, modification, expansion, and programming of Fire Alarm Systems when required.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and without affecting critical plant operations.
• Follow applicable safety rules, PPE requirements, permit-to-work procedures, and site-specific safety instructions.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians and site manpower.
• Maintain proper housekeeping and ensure tools, testing equipment, and service materials are handled safely.
Technical Skills Required:
• Positive knowledge of conventional and addressable Fire Alarm Systems.
• Knowledge of Fire Alarm Control Panels, detectors, MCPs, sounders, modules, relays, batteries, and field devices.
• Basic knowledge of fire alarm loop/zone architecture and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, fire alarm system drawings, wiring diagrams, and cause-and-effect charts.
• Knowledge of detector testing, loop testing, fault finding, and system programming.
• Knowledge of interfacing Fire Alarm Systems with HVAC, fire pumps, elevators, BMS, access control, and other systems will be an advantage.
• Basic computer knowledge for system configuration, Software Programming, reporting, documentation, and email communication.
• Knowledge of OEM-specific Fire Alarm Systems such as Siemens, Honeywell-ALL, GST, Notifier,
Bosch, Edwards, AGNI, System Sensor, ASES, or equivalent systems will be an advantage.
*Educational Qualification:
• ITI / Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Electronics & Telecommunication, or a related technical discipline.
• ITI/Diploma candidates with relevant Fire Alarm System service experience may also be considered.
*Experience:
• Technician: 2–5 years of relevant experience in Fire Alarm System installation, maintenance, testing, or troubleshooting.
• Service Engineer: 3–6 years of relevant experience in Fire Alarm System service and maintenance.
• Experience in industrial plants, cement plants, steel plants, power plants, mining sites, or other large industrial projects will be preferred.

• Willingness to travel to different project/customer locations.
• Ability to work under pressure and attend emergency breakdown calls.

*Employment Requirement:
The candidate should be willing to travel and work at customer/project sites as required. The position may involve working in industrial environments, including plants and other operational areas, in accordance with site safety requirements.
