Job PurposeTo supervise and actively participate in housekeeping activities to ensure the hospital premises are clean, hygienic, safe, and well-maintained at all times. The role includes managing housekeeping staff, monitoring cleanliness standards, and ensuring proper housekeeping procedures are followed throughout the hospital.

- Key Responsibilities1. Housekeeping OperationsEnsure cleanliness of patient rooms, corridors, reception areas, washrooms, waiting areas, offices, stairs, and other hospital premises.
- Perform housekeeping duties when required, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning, and waste collection.
- Ensure proper cleaning and disinfection of hospital areas as per hospital protocols.
- Ensure washrooms are cleaned regularly and maintained with adequate supplies.
- Monitor cleanliness of high-traffic and patient-care areas throughout the day.
- 2. Supervision of Housekeeping StaffAllocate daily duties and areas of responsibility to housekeeping staff.
- Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, grooming, uniforms, and work performance.
- Ensure adequate housekeeping staff are available in each shift.
- Train housekeeping staff on cleaning methods, hygiene, infection-control practices, and safety procedures.
- Guide and correct staff whenever housekeeping standards are not maintained.
- Report repeated negligence or misconduct to the reporting authority.

Hospital Hygiene & Infection ControlFollow hospital infection-control and hygiene protocols strictly.
- Ensure proper use of disinfectants and cleaning chemicals.
- Ensure proper segregation and disposal of waste as per hospital policy.
- Maintain special attention to patient-care areas, procedure rooms, laboratories, and other sensitive areas.
- Report spills, contamination, damaged equipment, or safety hazards immediately.
- 4. Cleaning Materials & InventoryMonitor the availability of cleaning chemicals, mops, gloves, garbage bags, tissues, toiletries, and other housekeeping materials.
- Maintain proper stock records and inform the concerned authority before materials are exhausted.
- Ensure housekeeping equipment is properly used, cleaned, and stored after use.
- Avoid unnecessary wastage of cleaning materials.
- 5. Daily Inspection & ReportingConduct regular rounds of the hospital to check cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
- Attend to complaints related to cleanliness immediately.
- Maintain daily housekeeping checklists and inspection records.
- Report major issues, shortages, staff absenteeism, and maintenance requirements to the reporting manager.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for housekeeping-related repair requirements.




- Required SkillsGood knowledge of housekeeping and cleaning procedures.
- Basic knowledge of hospital hygiene and infection-control practices.
- Good supervisory and team-management skills.
- Ability to allocate duties and manage staff effectively.
- Positive communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency requirements.
- Disciplined, responsible, and service-oriented attitude.
- Educational QualificationMinimum 10th / 12th standard preferred.
- Any housekeeping or facility-management certification will be an added advantage.
- Experience2–5 years of experience in housekeeping.
- Previous experience as a housekeeping supervisor in a hospital, hotel, healthcare facility, or commercial establishment will be preferred.
- Working ConditionsWillingness to work in rotational shifts.
- Must be available for emergency housekeeping requirements when necessary.
- Must follow hospital safety, hygiene, infection-control, and waste-management protocols.
- Should maintain professional behaviour while interacting with patients, attendants, doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Overall cleanliness and hygiene of the hospital.
- Timely completion of assigned housekeeping duties.
- Proper supervision and utilization of housekeeping staff.
- Compliance with infection-control and cleaning protocols.
- Proper maintenance and availability of housekeeping materials.
- Reduction in housekeeping-related complaints.
- Proper completion of daily cleaning and inspection checklists.
