Job Description CNC VMS / Machining Manager
Qualification & Experience
- Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
- 15–20 years of relevant experience in CNC machining, VMS operations, production, and shop-floor management.
- Candidates with strong hands-on experience in CNC VMS programming, setting, and machining process development will be preferred.
Required Technical Skills
- Solid hands-on knowledge of CNC VMS programming, setting, operation, and troubleshooting.
- Sound knowledge of conventional and precision machining processes.
- Good knowledge of jig and fixture design, development, modification, and implementation.
- Strong understanding of GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and engineering drawings.
- Ability to identify machining defects, dimensional deviations, and process-related problems and implement corrective actions.
- Good knowledge of cutting tools, tool selection, speeds, feeds, machining parameters, and tool life management.
- Knowledge of basic inspection methods and measuring instruments used in machining.
- Ability to optimize machining processes, cycle time, productivity, and machine utilization.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills with a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise day-to-day CNC and conventional machining activities to ensure smooth and efficient shop-floor operations.
- He need to handle minimum 30~40 emploees
- Plan, prioritize, allocate, and monitor machining jobs based on production schedules, delivery requirements, and priorities.
- Program, set, operate, and troubleshoot CNC VMS machines whenever required.
- Develop, modify, and implement jigs and fixtures to improve machining accuracy, productivity, repeatability, and ease of operation.
- Study engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T; requirements and ensure the correct machining process is followed.
- Establish and optimize machining parameters, tooling, cutting conditions, and process sequences for different components and materials.
- Monitor first-piece inspection, in-process inspection, and final machining quality to ensure components meet drawing specifications.
- Identify and resolve rejection, rework, dimensional variation, tool wear, and machining-related quality issues.
- Analyze root causes of machining problems and implement effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Monitor and improve cycle time, productivity, machine utilization, tool consumption, rejection, and rework.
- Coordinate closely with Production, Quality, Tool Room, Maintenance, Engineering, and Planning teams for uninterrupted production.
- Ensure proper machine setting, tooling, fixture readiness, inspection requirements, and process documentation before production.
- Guide, train, and develop CNC operators, setters, and machinists to improve technical capability and productivity.
- Ensure proper maintenance and upkeep of CNC machines, tools, fixtures, and related equipment in coordination with the Maintenance team.
- Maintain and review records related to production, tooling, machining parameters, rejection, downtime, and process improvements.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, productivity improvement, process standardization, and waste reduction.
- Take ownership of machining-related issues and drive timely resolution to meet production, quality, and delivery targets.
