Purpose: Sandvik Machining is looking for a business minded, experienced and socially confident Legal Counsel to strengthen our global Legal Support team with focus on India and Southeast Asia & Oceania region (SEAO).

Legal Support is responsible for enabling the business to take informed and balanced decisions across all legal disciplines worldwide, by providing qualitative legal advice and proactively assessing and mitigating key risks of our business. Your primary focus and responsibility would be India and Southeast Asia & Oceania region (SEAO). This requires accuracy, robust integrity and solid business understanding, as well as proficiency across many legal and compliance disciplines. Besides providing legal advice in relation to drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements, an important part of your job is to ensure that we stay compliant with legal and regulatory requirements and applicable laws. This includes implementation of relevant policies and procedures, as well as management of legal training and legal risk management of agreements.
You report directly to the global Head of Legal Support in Sweden. The location for this role is in Pune, India. Travel between our sites in India and some international travel is a natural part of the job.
Requirements
- You possess an India Law degree and at least eight years work experience from a reputable business law firm or within a corporate in-house legal organization with international matters.
- You pay close attention to India's legislative and enforcement trends, have the legal experience needed to act independently and to find legally adequate solutions to various situations, as well as a keen interest to further deepen your knowledge within legal areas of particular importance.
- Solid experience from independently negotiating a variety of commercial agreements (including procurement/sales/distribution, IT/technology and intellectual property) is key for this position.
- Experience handling corporate documentation (including being Secretary of the Board of Directors).
- Experience with Mergers & Acquisitions as well as digitalization or corporate investigations is an asset.
