Job Summary

Bharti Institute of Public Policy (BIPP), Indian School of Business, is one of India's leading public policy research institutes, engaging with policymakers and stakeholders through data-driven evidence, research, and analysis on key policy concerns. As BIPP continues to broaden its work in public policy, fiscal policy, and regulatory reforms, we seek a Research Fellow to support ongoing research initiatives.

The Research Fellow will be based in Lucknow and will work closely with the research team at BIPP, ISB. The role will involve supporting field-based research, stakeholder consultations, policy documentation, data collection, analysis, and preparation of high-quality knowledge outputs to inform evidence-based policymaking.

Key Responsibilities

- Support research projects in fiscal policy, regulatory reforms, budgetary management, and public expenditure efficiency.
- Conduct secondary research using policy documents, budget documents, government reports, finance accounts, audit reports, and other relevant sources.
- Support primary data collection through stakeholder consultations, surveys, interviews, and field visits.
- Coordinate with industry stakeholders, public officials, relevant institutions, field teams, and partner organisations.
- Assist in analysing qualitative and quantitative data to generate actionable insights.
- Support the preparation of research reports, policy briefs, working papers, presentations, and other knowledge outputs.
- Maintain regular coordination with the research team based at BIPP, ISB to ensure smooth project execution.
- Contribute to other research initiatives undertaken by the institute, as required.

Job Specifications

Education





- Master's degree in Economics (PhD preferred in Economics/Finance with working knowledge of central and state tax, macroeconomics, or related areas)

Specific Skills

- Proficiency in statistical tools such as STATA, R, or Python.

- Solid analytical, writing, and communication skills.

- Candidates should have demonstrated knowledge of public finance, fiscal policy, taxation, budgetary processes, and public expenditure management.

- Prior research experience in tax policy, fiscal reforms, public revenue systems, or regulatory policy will be preferred.

Desirable Experience

- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in finance research, fiscal policy analysis, or government budgeting
