About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Insurance Accountant with hands-on experience in insurance accounting and financial operations. The ideal candidate should have solid knowledge of premium accounting, claims accounting, commission accounting, insurance receivables and payables, reconciliations, General Ledger and financial reporting.

Experience supporting US insurance clients or insurance companies will be preferred.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day accounting activities for insurance entities or clients.
- Maintain accurate General Ledger and insurance accounting records.
- Perform accounting and reconciliation of insurance premiums and related transactions.
- Support Claims Accounting and reconcile claims-related financial transactions.
- Perform Commission Accounting and reconcile commission-related balances.
- Support insurance receivables and payables accounting.
- Perform premium, claims, bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare and post Journal Entries, Accruals, Prepayments and accounting adjustments.
- Support Reinsurance Accounting activities where applicable.
- Reconcile policy administration or insurance system data with General Ledger records.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and unusual transactions.
- Support Month-End, Quarter-End and Year-End Close activities.
- Prepare financial reports, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Support insurance financial reporting and audit requirements.
- Coordinate with Claims, Underwriting, Policy Administration, Finance and Operations teams.




- Maintain accurate accounting documentation and audit trails.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, company policies and internal controls.
- Support process improvement initiatives related to insurance accounting, reconciliations and reporting.

Key Software

Microsoft Excel, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Guidewire, Duck Creek, Sapiens, Workday, QuickBooks, Power BI; experience with other insurance accounting, ERP or policy administration systems will also be considered.

Insurance Accounting, Premium Accounting, Claims Accounting, Commission Accounting, Reinsurance Accounting, Policy Accounting, Insurance Receivables, Insurance Payables, Premium Reconciliation, Claims Reconciliation, General Ledger, Bank Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, Month-End Close, Financial Reporting, Journal Entries, Accrual Accounting, US GAAP, IFRS, Internal Controls, Audit Documentation.

Qualifications & Skills

- B.Com / M.Com / MBA Finance / Accounting or a related field.
- CA, CPA, CMA, ACCA or relevant professional qualification preferred.
- 3-8 years of relevant experience in Insurance Accounting, Insurance Finance, Financial Accounting or Finance Operations.
- Hands-on experience supporting insurance companies or insurance clients preferred.
- Strong understanding of premium, claims and insurance-related accounting processes.
- Experience with reconciliations and General Ledger accounting.
- Reinsurance accounting experience will be an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets.
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage financial reporting deadlines.
