Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior SAP BTP CAP Engineer / Architect with strong hands-on experience in designing and developing cloud-native, scalable and multi-tenant applications on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
The ideal candidate should be capable of independently driving system design discussions, making architectural decisions, evaluating scalability and technical trade-offs, and designing secure multi-tenant applications using SAP BTP and CAP.
The role requires solid practical expertise in SAP CAP, BTP services, multi-tenancy, cloud architecture, Terraform/IaC, APIs, databases and CI/CD.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable SAP BTP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP) applications.
- Independently drive system architecture, design and technical discussions.
- Design solutions considering storage selection, data modelling, API design, read/write paths, caching, scalability, availability and performance.
- Design and implement multi-tenant SaaS applications on SAP BTP.
- Implement tenant isolation, tenant-aware data models, authentication/authorization and service architecture.
- Work hands-on with SaaS Provisioning Service, SaaS Registry, XSUAA, Destination Service, Cloud Foundry and Service Manager.
- Understand the distinction between authentication/authorization services and SaaS/multi-tenancy services.
- Implement infrastructure and cloud resources using Terraform / Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cloud applications.
- Work with databases and persistence layers used with CAP applications.
- Design secure APIs and integrations with SAP and non-SAP systems.
- Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Evaluate architectural trade-offs and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering practices.
Mandatory Technical Skills
SAP BTP:
Strong hands-on experience with SAP BTP, Cloud Foundry, XSUAA, Destination Service, Service Manager, SaaS Provisioning Service and SaaS Registry.
SAP CAP:

- Strong understanding of tenant isolation and tenant-aware data modelling.
- Experience with tenant onboarding/provisioning.
- Hands-on knowledge of SaaS Provisioning Service and SaaS Registry.
- Understanding of how multi-tenancy impacts data, services, security and overall architecture.
System Design – MUST HAVE:
Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, high availability, data/storage selection, API and service design, caching,
performance and architecture trade-offs, with the ability to independently drive technical design discussions.
Infrastructure as Code – MUST HAVE:
Hands-on experience with Terraform, infrastructure automation, cloud resource provisioning and CI/CD.
Good to Have

- 3+ years of hands-on SAP BTP experience
- Strong hands-on SAP CAP development experience
- Demonstrated experience designing multi-tenant applications
- Experience independently handling architecture and system design discussions
Important Candidate Expectations
Candidates should be able to independently explain and demonstrate:
1. How they would design a multi-tenant CAP application.
2. How tenant isolation would be implemented.
3. The role of SaaS Provisioning Service and SaaS Registry.
4. The difference between XSUAA and BTP SaaS/multi-tenancy services.
5. How they would scale a CAP application under increasing load.
6. How they would select the appropriate storage/database for a use case.
7. How they would design the read/write path.
