Business Analyst /Chemistry / Drug discovery process
Location : India | Hybrid / Client-facing as required
Experience : 5-10 years, preferably with experience in pharmaceutical R&D;, DMPK, medicinal
chemistry, computational chemistry, or scientific data/technology projects.

Role Overview
We are looking for a Business Analyst with strong Chemistry / Pharmaceutical R&D; domain expertise to support a DMPK and R&D; transformation program for a leading life sciences organization.

The candidate will work closely with **DMPK scientists, medicinal chemists, computational scientists, R&D; leadership, data/technology teams, and product/project teams** to understand scientific workflows, translate business and scientific requirements into
technology solutions, and drive successful implementation.

The ideal candidate combines **hands-on understanding of chemistry/pharma R&D;
workflows** with strong business analysis and stakeholder management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Business & Scientific Analysis

* Understand pharmaceutical R&D; workflows across **medicinal chemistry, DMPK, ADME,
PK/PD, bioanalysis, and preclinical research**.
* Engage with scientists and SMEs to understand current workflows, pain points, decision
processes, data sources, and technology gaps.
* Translate scientific requirements into clear business, functional, and technical
requirements.
* Map **AS-IS and TO-BE workflows** for R&D; and DMPK processes.
* Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, analytics, AI/ML, and
data-driven decision making.
* Develop use cases, user stories, process maps,



business requirements documents, and
functional specifications.
* Support prioritization of R&D; use cases based on business/scientific value, feasibility, and impact.

DMPK / Chemistry Domain

* Understand concepts such as:
* ADME
* Absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion
* Pharmacokinetics / PK
* Drug-drug interactions
* In vitro / in vivo studies
* Bioanalysis
* Metabolite identification
* Physicochemical properties
* Structure-activity relationships
* Medicinal chemistry workflows
* Understand how experimental and scientific data flows through R&D; systems.
* Work with scientists to define data requirements, metadata, terminology, and scientific KPIs.
* Participate in discussions around integrating experimental, compound, assay, biological, and DMPK datasets.

Technology & Data Translation

* Act as the bridge between **scientists/business stakeholders and technology teams**.
* Work with data engineers, architects, AI/ML teams, and developers to ensure scientific
requirements are correctly translated into technology solutions.
* Contribute to requirements for data platforms, analytics, knowledge graphs, AI assistants,
scientific applications, and workflow automation.
* Support data mapping, source-system analysis, data quality assessment,



and validation of
technology outputs.

Stakeholder Management
* Conduct workshops and discovery sessions with R&D; and DMPK stakeholders.
* Prepare presentations and communicate complex scientific concepts to technical and business audiences.
* Manage requirements across multiple stakeholder groups.
* Support demos, UAT, user feedback, and solution refinement.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Life
Sciences, or a related discipline.
* 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D;, scientific consulting, business analysis, or
technology-enabled R&D; transformation.
* Solid understanding of **chemistry and pharmaceutical R&D; processes**.
* Exposure to **DMPK / ADME / PK** is strongly preferred.
* Experience gathering and documenting requirements.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to work effectively with both scientists and technology teams.
Preferred Skills
* Experience with pharmaceutical R&D; platforms and scientific data systems.
* Exposure to **ELN, LIMS, SDMS, compound registration, assay systems, or scientific
informatics platforms**.
* Understanding of cheminformatics, compound/structure data, or scientific data models.
* Exposure to AI/ML, GenAI, analytics, knowledge graphs, or data platforms in life sciences.
* Experience with Agile methodologies, Jira, Confluence, or similar tools.
* Prior experience working with global pharmaceutical or CRO organizations.
