SAP Basis Consultant

Role & responsibilities

- Perform core SAP Basis administration (startup/shutdown, profiles, parameters, RFCs, transports, client operations).
• Manage SAP kernel upgrades, support package updates, system refreshes, and SUM-based maintenance.
• Administer SAP HANA database (backup/restore, performance tuning, system replication, resource monitoring).
• Handle daily monitoring (ABAP/Java stack, HANA, OS, filesystem, queues, logs, dumps, ICM, Gateway).
• Troubleshoot P1/P2 production issues and coordinate with SAP OSS (including Maximum Attention cases).
• Manage transport management (CTS/CTS+, ChaRM optional) ensuring secure and error-free movements.
• Support cloud-hosted SAP environments on Azure/AWS (VM sizing, storage, backups, OS monitoring).
• Configure and maintain monitoring & alerting tools (SAP Solution Manager, Azure Monitor, CC dashboards).
• Perform OS-level checks on Linux/Unix relevant to SAP (filesystem, swap, memory/CPU, kernel params).
• Support and maintain DR/HA setups (HANA System Replication, Enqueue Replication Server, clusters).
• Participate in release cutovers, hypercare support, planned maintenance, and downtime coordination.
• Prepare and maintain runbooks,



SOPs, architecture documentation, and technical procedures.
• Collaborate closely with Infra, Cloud, DB, CoE, and Command Centre teams for end-to-end issue resolution.
• Contribute to continuous service improvement, automation, proactive monitoring, and RCA discussions.

Preferred candidate profile

Perform core SAP Basis administration including system startup/shutdown, transport management, profiles, parameters, and client operations.
• Ensure optimal performance, stability, and availability of SAP systems across ABAP/Java and HANA environments.
• Troubleshoot system issues (work processes, dumps, logs, ICM, Gateway, HANA performance) and provide timely resolutions.
• Identify system bottlenecks and proactively address performance, capacity, or configuration gaps.
• Maintain system reliability through regular monitoring, health checks, kernel updates, and maintenance activities.
• Support release cutovers, patching, planned downtimes, and coordinate with Infra/Cloud/CoE teams as needed.
• Prepare and maintain documentation such as runbooks, technical procedures, and landscape details.
