Position: ASSAY MASTER (JEWELLERY INDUSTRY)

QUALIFICATION

- B.SC / M.Sc. Chemistry.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Assaying / Quality Control / Quality Assurance.
- Jewellery / Precious Metals Industry preferred
- Strong knowledge of Gold, Silver and Precious Metal testing and purity analysis.

ASSAY & QUALITY CONTROL

- Perform and supervise assaying and purity testing of Gold, Silver and precious metals.
- Verify the fineness, purity and composition of precious metals.
- Conduct testing of raw materials, semi-finished and finished jewellery.
- Ensure accurate assay results and maintain proper testing records.
- Identify and report quality deviations and non-conformists.

DOCUMENTATION & COMPLIANCE

- Maintain laboratory documentation as per ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable BIS standards, including IS 1418:2009.
- Maintain assay reports, test records, calibration records, SOPs and quality documents.
- Support NABL-related laboratory documentation and compliance.
- Ensure proper traceability of samples, test results and records.

TESTING & LABORATORY MANAGEMENT

- Supervise day-to-day operations of the Assay / Quality Laboratory.
- Ensure proper operation, calibration and maintenance of testing instruments.
- Monitor laboratory accuracy, reliability and testing procedures.
- Ensure proper handling, storage and identification of samples.

AUDIT & CERTIFICATION

- Support BIS,



ISO/IEC 17025 and NABL audits / assessments.
- Prepare required documents and records for audits and inspections.
- Identify non-conformities and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Ensure continuous compliance with applicable quality and regulatory requirements.

TEAM MANAGEMENT

- Lead and supervise Assay / Quality Control staff and laboratory technicians.
- Train team members on assay procedures, testing methods and quality standards.
- Monitor team performance and ensure adherence to laboratory procedures.

PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

- Improve assay accuracy, testing procedures and laboratory efficiency.
- Develop and update SOPs, work instructions and quality procedures.
- Investigate testing discrepancies and implement corrective measures.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, integrity and confidentiality in assay operations.

KEY SKILLS

- Strong knowledge of Gold & Silver Assaying
- Knowledge of Gold Fineness / Purity Standards
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025
- Knowledge of BIS IS 1418:2009
- Knowledge of NABL laboratory requirements
- Laboratory documentation and audit handling
- Testing equipment handling and calibration
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Team leadership and communication skills
