Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager - International tax to join our International tax and Transaction Tax Services (ITTS) practice. The role will focus on supporting US-based clients, particularly in the financial services and investment funds sector, on complex international tax matters, cross-border transactions, fund structuring and tax-efficient operating models.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of international tax, US tax concepts and cross-border advisory matters (including PFIC, CFC, GILTI, ECI, WHT, PE, TP and accounting for income tax matters).
Qualifications
- Professional qualification such as CA/ CPA/ CFA or equivalent preferred.
- Bachelors Degree in Tax, Economics, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in international tax / M&A; / Transaction tax / Cross border tax advisory in a client facing role.
- Prior experience with a leading professional services firm preferred.
- Strong exposure to international taxation, including cross-border structuring, treaty analysis, withholding tax, permanent establishment matters.
- Exposure to financial services sector will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of US tax concepts, including PFIC, CFC, gilti and ECI, will be highly valued.
- M&A; tax or transaction tax exposure will be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, project management and leadership skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple engagements and stakeholders in a quick-paced environment.
- Experience in delivering on international tax projects and mentoring junior team members
- Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel and Advanced Excel.
Key Responsibilities
You'll support the growth of our US International Tax practice and play a key role in delivering high-quality international tax advisory services to US-based clients, particularly in the financial services, investment funds, private equity and asset management sectors.
- Manage and deliver international tax engagements, providing practical and commercially focused advice on complex cross-border tax matters.
- Advising on US and international tax issues, including PFIC, CFC, GILTI, ECI, permanent establishment, withholding tax, transfer pricing and related international tax considerations.
- Conducting technical research and preparing tax memoranda, reports and other client deliverables.
- Advising on tax-efficient holding, financing and operating structures, reorganizations, fund structures and cross-border transactions.
- Monitoring global tax developments, including BEPS, MLI, anti-hybrid rules and treaty-related changes, and assessing their impact on clients.
- Collaborating with EY network offices, service providers and client stakeholders to deliver integrated multi-jurisdictional tax solutions.
- Identifying tax risks and planning opportunities, and communicating practical recommendations to clients.
- Managing project delivery, budgets, timelines and stakeholder expectations while ensuring compliance with quality, risk management and independence requirements.
- Leading, mentoring and developing team members, while contributing to training, knowledge-sharing and practice development initiatives.
The role offers exposure to a broad range of international tax projects, including fund structuring, accounting for income taxes, operating model reviews, tax due diligence, permanent establishment assessments, and group restructuring and financing projects.
