Job Title: 3D Artist / Digital Sculptor (3D Printing Figurines & Models)
Company: FabLayers (by the team behind SourceCAD.com) Website: sourcecad.com
Job Type: Full-time, Work from Office Eligibility: Open to both male and female candidates
About Us
FabLayers is a 3D printing studio based in Jamshedpur, run by the team behind SourceCAD.com, an
Autodesk Authorized Learning Partner whose CAD and engineering courses are used by students
and professionals in over 140 countries. At FabLayers we design and manufacture 3D-printed
figurines, sculptures, collectibles, and custom models in plastic (FDM and resin), for both individual
customers and business clients.
Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented 3D Artist to create figurines, sculptures, characters,
and display models that will be manufactured on our in-house 3D printers. You will take a concept,
reference image, or client brief and turn it into a finished, print-ready 3D model. Because every piece
you make will be physically produced in plastic, you will design with manufacturing in mind: splitting
models into printable parts, adding keys and joints, managing wall thickness and overhangs, and
working closely with the print team to get clean, robust, well-fitting results.
Key Responsibilities

Sculpt and model figurines, busts, statues, characters, miniatures, and custom pieces from
concept art, photos, or client briefs using Blender, ZBrush, 3ds Max, or similar tools.

Prepare models for 3D printing: split large or complex models into printable parts, design keys,
pegs, sockets, and joints for assembly,

and add tolerances so parts fit after printing.
¢
Ensure every model is manifold/watertight, has correct wall thickness, and minimises unsupported
overhangs, thin features, and fragile details that could fail in plastic.
¢
Hollow, orient, and export models in the correct formats (STL, OBJ, 3MF) and slice or coordinate
slicing with the print team.
¢
Retopologise, decimate, and clean up high-poly sculpts and scanned meshes so they are ready
for production.
¢
Review test prints, identify defects (warping, layer lines, weak joints, fit issues), and revise the
model accordingly.
¢
Maintain an organised library of models, part files, versions, and print settings for repeat orders.
¢
Coordinate with the print, finishing, and sales teams to understand client requirements and
turnaround times.
Requirements
¢
Strong hands-on skill in at least one of: Blender, ZBrush, 3ds Max, Maya, or a comparable 3D
modelling/sculpting tool (a portfolio of character or figurine work is essential).
¢
Good understanding of anatomy, proportion, form, and surface detail for organic sculpting.
¢
Working knowledge of 3D printing constraints: wall thickness, overhangs, supports, tolerances,
part splitting, and hollowing.

Experience with slicers such as Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, Cura, or
Chitubox is a plus.
¢
Ability to produce clean, watertight, print-ready meshes and repair mesh errors (Meshmixer,
Netfabb, Blender tools, or similar).
¢
Familiarity with hard-surface modelling or CAD tools (Fusion 360, SolidWorks) for bases,
mechanical parts, and accessories is an advantage.
¢
Experience with FDM or resin printers, or willingness to learn and work alongside the print team.

¢
¢
Good communication skills in English and Hindi to understand client briefs and give clear
feedback.
Self-driven, organised, and comfortable working to deadlines and quality standards.
What We Offer
¢
The chance to see your digital sculpts turned into physical products every week.
¢
Hands-on access to in-house FDM and resin 3D printers and finishing equipment.
¢
Structured training on 3D printing workflows. Prior printing experience is helpful but not required if
your modelling skills are strong.
¢
Exposure to a variety of projects: collectibles, custom gifts, prototypes, and B2B orders.
¢
Salary at par with industry standards, plus performance-based incentives.
How to Apply
Send your CV along with a portfolio (ArtStation, Sketchfab, Google Drive link, or images of printed
pieces). Applications without a portfolio will not be considered.
Work Location & Hours
¢
Location: Aura Sky Building, fifth floor, Sakchi, Jamshedpur
¢
Work mode: Work from office only
¢
Hours: 11 AM to 8 PM
