About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Cloud Operations Engineer to configure, automate, and operate secure, reliable Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments. You will keep the cloud platform running smoothly day to day — provisioning and configuring GCP services, automating infrastructure with Terraform, running CI/CD through GitHub Actions, operating GKE, and maintaining strong monitoring and observability. This is a delivery-focused engineering role for someone who thrives on automation, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- GCP Services Configuration & Operations: Configure and operate core GCP services — networking, databases, compute, API gateway, Pub/Sub, Cloud Identity, and IAM — ensuring availability, performance, and reliability.
- Monitoring & Observability: Set up and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and dashboards; proactively detect issues, respond to incidents, and uphold service-level objectives.
- Infrastructure as Code: Build and maintain modular, reusable Terraform to provision and manage GCP infrastructure with consistency and drift control across environments.
- DevSecOps & CI/CD: Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, embedding security controls — secrets scanning, image scanning, and policy-as-code — into the delivery workflow.
- Identity, IAM & Policy: Configure Cloud Identity and IAM, organization and security policies, and least-privilege access models and guardrails.
- DNS & CDN: Configure and maintain Cloud DNS, Cloud CDN, and load balancing for performant, resilient service delivery.
- GKE Operations: Automate GKE cluster provisioning, upgrades, and lifecycle management, and support the migration of workloads to GKE.
- Platform Engineering:
Contribute to internal developer platforms and self-service tooling using tools such as Spotify Backstage — maintaining templates, golden paths, and reusable modules.
- Automation & Continuous Improvement: Script and automate operational tasks to reduce toil, improve reliability, and increase delivery velocity.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6+ years in IT/cloud operations with 3+ years hands-on operating Google Cloud Platform.
- Solid, hands-on experience configuring and monitoring GCP services.
- Strong expertise with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices with GitHub Actions.
- Hands-on experience operating Kubernetes/GKE, including cluster automation and workload migrations.
- Working knowledge of GCP networking, compute, managed databases, API gateway, Pub/Sub, Cloud Identity, and IAM.
- Experience with cloud networking — DNS, CDN, and load balancing.
- Proficiency with monitoring/observability tooling (Cloud Operations suite, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Proficiency in at least one scripting/automation language (Python, Go, or Bash).
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Google Associate Cloud Engineer and/or Qualified Cloud DevOps Engineer certification.
- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices and incident-management experience.
- Familiarity with GitOps (Argo CD / Flux) and platform-engineering tooling (Spotify Backstage).
- Exposure to FinOps and cloud cost optimization.
What You'll Bring
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, an automation-first mindset, attention to reliability and security, and the ability to collaborate closely with architects, developers, and client stakeholders.
