JD: Atlan Architect & SME

We are seeking a Senior Atlan Architect & SME with strong hands-on experience in Atlan, data governance, metadata management, and Atlan Co-pilot.

Mandatory: Proven hands-on experience deploying and configuring Atlan Co-pilot from scratch in an enterprise workplace.

Key Responsibilities

Atlan Architecture & Co-pilot

- Lead discovery sessions and define target-state Atlan architecture, metadata strategy, integrations, and governance model.
- Design the Enterprise Context Layer, including Data Graph, Knowledge Graph, Governance Graph, and Active Ontology.
- Deploy, configure, and optimize Atlan Co-pilot and AI-driven governance workflows.
- Configure prompt/context retrieval and Co-pilot workflows for metadata enrichment, classification, ownership, glossary, and policy recommendations.

Atlan Administration & Data Integration

- Configure Atlan connectors, crawlers, metadata pipelines, users, roles, personas, and access policies.
- Integrate Atlan across data, BI, systems-of-record, data quality, and governance platforms.
- Integrate Co-pilot's context provisioning layer with the Enterprise Context Layer to ensure AI agents receive trusted, governed context.
- Build and maintain automated and manual lineage across batch, streaming, and transformation layers.
- Implement Business Glossaries, metadata taxonomies, and governance standards.

Data Governance & Architecture

- Design and implement enterprise data governance frameworks covering technical, business, and operational metadata.
- Strong understanding of column-, table-, and process-level lineage, impact analysis, and regulatory compliance.




- Understand data quality dimensions, including completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and consistency.
- Strong understanding of Data Lakehouse, Data Mesh, Data Fabric, and Medallion Architecture.
- Working knowledge of dbt, including transformations, lineage, and data contracts.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Oracle, Azure Synapse, or AWS Redshift.
- Familiarity with Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster and their metadata surfaces.
- Comfortable working with REST APIs and integrations.

Enterprise Ecosystem

Experience with multiple technologies across:

- Data: Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, BigQuery, Redshift, Azure Synapse
- Analytics: dbt, Power BI, Tableau, Looker, ThoughtSpot, Incorta
- Systems of Record: Salesforce, SAP, Jira, ServiceNow, Workday, Oracle EBS
- Quality: Monte Carlo, Soda, Great Expectations, Bigeye
- Governance: Immuta, BigID, ALTR, Collibra

Required Qualifications

- 8+ years in data architecture, governance, metadata, or related areas.
- 3+ years hands-on Atlan experience.
- Mandatory hands-on Atlan Co-pilot implementation experience.
- Strong knowledge of Atlan Data Graph, Knowledge Graph, Governance Graph, and Active Ontology.
- Strong customer-facing, architecture, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Working knowledge of AI/LLMs, prompt engineering, context retrieval, and AI agents.
