SQL Server & Snowflake Developer

Description

We are seeking several skilled and motivated SQL and Snowflake Developers to join our agile development teams as we migrate our market-leading risk management tools from MS SQL Server to Data Lake technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SQL Server and Snowflake development, database management in Microsoft workplace (SQL Server, Azure SQL), data pipelines, performance tuning, and data integration across on-prem and cloud environments along with exposure to Data Lake technologies (ideally Snowflake).

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines using SQL Server and Snowflake.
- Design, develop, and maintain performant and maintainable SQL stored procedures and queries for performance and reliability.
- Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity.
- Design and implement data models, schemas, and warehouse structures in Snowflake.
- Manage data loading, transformation, and validation processes between systems.
- Collaborate with consultants from Professional Services to ensure accurate and timely delivery of client customisations.
- Work as part of an agile team.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
- Ensure database security and compliance with data protection regulations.
- Identify and promote standardisation and reuse across the client customisations codebase.




- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Document technical solutions, data flow diagrams, and best practices.

Requirements

- Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in SQL development and database management (T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, functions).
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake (warehouses, stages, tasks, streams, materialized views).
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modelling (Star/Snowflake schema).
- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL.
- Experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
- Proficiency in SQL scripting and working with large datasets.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Bonus Points For

- Experience in the financial services industry, particularly in credit risk management.
- Experience with other Azure services and cloud-based database solutions.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
- Exposure to data lake platforms (e. g. Snowflake, Data Bricks)
- Experience with SQL Server Integration Services and/or SQL Server Analysis Services.
- Experience with BI tools (e.g. Power BI).
