About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Logistics / Freight Accountant with hands-on experience supporting accounting and financial operations within the logistics, freight, transportation or supply chain industry. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of freight revenue and costs, carrier payments, shipment reconciliations, freight invoicing, accrued freight, fuel surcharges, AP, AR and financial reporting.

Experience supporting US logistics, freight forwarding, trucking, transportation or 3PL clients will be preferred.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage accounting activities for logistics, freight and transportation businesses.
- Record and reconcile freight revenue and transportation expenses.
- Process and review freight invoices and carrier bills.
- Reconcile carrier statements and shipment-related transactions.
- Track carrier payments, freight accruals and outstanding balances.
- Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities.
- Reconcile freight billing, shipment data and accounting records.
- Account for fuel surcharges, accessorial charges and transportation costs.
- Allocate freight costs to appropriate customers, shipments or cost centers.
- Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain General Ledger and logistics accounting records.
- Prepare Journal Entries, Accruals and accounting adjustments.
- Investigate and resolve freight billing and carrier accounting discrepancies.
- Support Month-End,



Quarter-End and Year-End Close.
- Prepare freight cost, revenue and financial reports.
- Analyze freight margins and transportation costs.
- Coordinate with Operations, Dispatch, Procurement, Carriers, Customers and Finance teams.
- Support audit requirements and internal controls.
- Support process improvement initiatives related to freight accounting and reconciliation.

Key Software

Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, TMW, McLeod, MercuryGate, Descartes, Power BI; experience with other ERP, Transportation Management Systems or logistics accounting systems will also be considered.

Qualifications & Skills

- B.Com / M.Com / MBA Finance / Accounting or a related field.
- CA, CPA, CMA, ACCA or relevant professional qualification preferred.
- 3-8 years of relevant Logistics / Freight / Transportation Accounting experience.
- Robust knowledge of freight revenue, transportation costs and carrier accounting.
- Experience with carrier reconciliations and freight accruals preferred.
- Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills.
- Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting US logistics, freight or transportation clients preferred.
