Sr. Buyer: Indirect Procurement

Responsibilities

- Manage sourcing activities end-to-end for assigned commodities, including requirement review, bidder-list finalization, RFQ release, offer evaluation, negotiation, approval and PO co-ordination.
- Lead medium, high-value and complex sourcing topics involving multiple stakeholders, commercials parameters, unclear requirements, limited supplier options or challenging delivery timelines.
- Review and improve business requirements by working with user departments to ensure clarity of scope, deliverables, KPIs, SLAs, timelines, warranties, payment terms, and other commercial conditions before RFQ release.
- Prepare detailed commercial evaluations, including price comparisons, total-cost analysis, commercial-condition comparisons, budget checks and local/global benchmarking wherever relevant.
- Develop and execute negotiation strategies, including target setting, cost-breakdown analysis, negotiation sequencing, supplier positioning and optimization of prices, payment terms, penalties, warranties, and delivery conditions.




- Prepare and own sourcing recommendations and Globe presentations for assigned topics, ensuring that the commercial rationale, savings, risks, options, and final recommendation are clearly documented.
- Present or jointly present procurement topics in applicable approval forums such as ISC, Pre-Meetings, RSC and CSC, and ensure timely incorporation of management or forum feedback.
- Guide Buyers and Junior Buyers on complex cases by reviewing sourcing strategy, commercial analysis, negotiation preparation and documentation quality, without taking away the assigned buyers ownership.
- Ensure procurement governance and audit compliance, including complete sourcing documentation, required approvals, negotiation protocols, deviation controls and adherence to VW India/VW Group policies and processes.
- Support the Category Manager/HOD in stakeholder management, escalations and process improvement, and act as a delegated backup for PO checking/release and other critical procurement activities where required.
