SQL Sr. Database Administrator

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced SQL Senior Database Administrator responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing SQL Server databases. The role involves ensuring high performance, availability, security, and reliability of database systems while supporting business-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning recommendations.
- Manage database backup, restoration, and disaster recovery processes.
- Configure and maintain SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Clustering, and Replication.
- Perform database health checks and capacity planning.
- Troubleshoot database-related issues and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Create and maintain maintenance plans, jobs, alerts, and monitoring solutions.
- Implement database security, user management, roles, and permissions.
- Support application deployment activities and database release management.
- Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and indexes.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure database best practices.
- Monitor and manage database storage, growth, and resource utilization.
- Document database configurations, processes, and operational procedures.
- Ensure compliance with security, auditing, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills





- Solid experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019/2022.
- Expertise in SQL Server Administration and Performance Tuning.
- Experience with:
- SQL Server Always On Availability Groups
- Database Mirroring
- Replication
- Log Shipping
- Failover Clustering

Strong knowledge of:

- T-SQL
- Stored Procedures
- Functions
- Triggers
- Indexing Strategies
- Experience with Backup & Recovery and Disaster Recovery planning.
- Knowledge of SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events, Query Store, and Performance Monitor.
- Experience in database migration and upgrade projects.
- Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for database automation.
- Understanding of database security, encryption, and auditing.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services.
- Knowledge of Azure SQL Database and Managed Instance.
- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
- Exposure to monitoring tools such as Grafana, SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer, or Redgate SQL Monitor.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Education

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Microsoft SQL Server certifications are preferred.
- Nice to Have
- Experience with Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, or other cloud databases.
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) architecture.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications.
