Grant Writer

Location: Remote

Work Arrangement: Fully Remote

Reports To: Executive Director

Position Type: Full Time, Part Time, or Contract

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated, organized, and experienced Grant Writer to support our organizations fundraising and grant development efforts.

This is a fully remote position, and qualified candidates may apply from any location. The selected candidate will work under the direct supervision of and report directly to the Executive Director.

The ideal candidate will have strong research, writing, communication, and organizational skills, along with the ability to identify appropriate funding opportunities, develop competitive grant proposals, manage multiple deadlines, and support the organizations long term funding strategy.

We are looking for someone who is proactive, dependable, detail oriented, and capable of managing the complete grant development process from opportunity research through submission and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

- Research and identify relevant grant opportunities from private foundations, corporations, government agencies, healthcare organizations, community foundations, and other funding sources

- Continuously identify new funding opportunities that align with the organizations mission, programs, and strategic priorities

- Prepare high quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, concept papers, applications, narratives, and supporting documentation

- Work directly with the Executive Director to understand organizational priorities, funding needs, programs, impact, and future goals

- Maintain regular communication with the Executive Director regarding grant opportunities, deadlines, submissions, awards, and pending applications

- Maintain a comprehensive grant calendar and funding pipeline

- Track application deadlines, reporting requirements, renewals, award periods, and funder communications

- Coordinate the collection of organizational, programmatic, financial, and operational information needed for applications

- Assist with development of program goals, objectives, measurable outcomes, timelines, and evaluation plans

- Assist with preparation of grant budgets and budget narratives

- Maintain organized records of submitted, pending, awarded, declined, and upcoming grant opportunities

- Prepare interim, progress, annual, and final grant reports as required by funders

- Ensure applications and reports are accurate, complete, professional, and submitted on time

- Help develop and maintain reusable organizational narratives, impact statements, program descriptions, organizational history, community need statements, and supporting materials

- Research demographic, healthcare, community, and other relevant data to strengthen proposals





- Monitor grant requirements and help ensure compliance with funding conditions and reporting obligations

- Support development of relationships with foundations, corporations, government agencies, community partners, and other potential funders

- Assist leadership with fundraising and development strategy as needed

- Participate in virtual meetings with leadership and team members when necessary

- Provide regular progress updates and maintain transparency regarding the status of grant activities

Qualifications

- Demonstrated professional writing and editing skills

- Previous experience with grant writing, proposal development, nonprofit development, fundraising, or a related field preferred

- Strong research and analytical abilities

- Ability to identify and evaluate grant opportunities independently

- Excellent organizational and time management skills

- Ability to manage multiple grants, projects, and deadlines simultaneously

- Strong attention to detail

- Ability to communicate professionally with organizational leadership and external stakeholders

- Ability to work independently in a remote environment

- Ability to follow direction while also taking initiative

- Reliable internet access and ability to participate in scheduled virtual meetings

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, online grant portals, and online research tools

- Familiarity with nonprofit organizations and community based programs preferred

Education

Bachelors degree preferred in Communications, English, Public Administration, Public Health, Business, Nonprofit Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.

Equivalent professional experience and a demonstrated record of successful grant writing may be considered in place of specific educational requirements.

Remote Work Expectations
