Senior .NET Migration Developer (VB6 to Cloud & Oracle) Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior .NET Migration Developer with a specialized track record in legacy modernization. In this role, you will be the driving force behind refactoring and converting our legacy Visual Basic 6 (VB6) desktop applications into modern, scalable .NET (C#) cloud-native architectures.

You will work heavily in a multi-cloud environment utilizing both AWS and Azure, and you will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and creating highly performant database logic within our Oracle Database cluster via complex PL/SQL stored procedures.

- Legacy Code Analysis & Modernization: Reverse-engineer existing VB6 codebases, mapping out legacy business logic, COM dependencies, and database access layers to prepare them for transition to .NET.

- Cloud Architecture & Deployment: Leverage both AWS and Azure services to host, monitor, and scale migrated applications. Ensure robust integration between cloud compute layers and our Oracle DB backend.
- API & Integration Design:



Build secure RESTful APIs to facilitate seamless communication between newly migrated .NET systems and remaining legacy components.
- Technical Leadership: Partner with solution architects to define migration paths, establish coding standards for the rewrite, and perform deep-dive code reviews.

Required Qualifications & Experience
- Overall Experience: 8 or more years of qualified software development experience, with a heavy focus on enterprise application development.
- Migration Track Record: Proven, hands-on experience refactoring or migrating legacy systems (specifically VB6 or classic ASP) into C#/.NET.
- Deep .NET Expertise: Mastery of C#, .NET Core/.NET 8, ASP.NET Web API, and dependency injection patterns.
- Oracle PL/SQL Mastery: Exceptional skills in Oracle Database development. You must have extensive experience writing complex stored procedures and diagnosing performance bottlenecks using execution plans.
- Dual Cloud Exposure: Practical experience working with core services in both AWS and Azure (e.g., identity management, serverless compute, and secure connectivity).
- Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred/Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience dealing with hybrid network connectivity between on-premises Oracle databases and public clouds (Azure ExpressRoute, AWS Direct Connect).
- Familiarity with automated migration tools or code-transpilation methodologies.
- Background in highly secure, high-transaction enterprise domains like healthcare or financial services.
