Job Title: Software Engineering Intern – PHP & AI Solutions

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Software Engineering Intern to join our development team in Trivandrum. In this role, you will work hands-on with web application development, e-commerce platforms, and practical AI integrations. You will work closely with senior developers to build scalable backend systems in PHP, optimize database performance, and consume machine learning models and AI APIs to power next-generation business features.

Key Responsibilities

* Backend Development: Assist in designing, building, and maintaining dynamic web applications and e-commerce platforms using core PHP and modern PHP frameworks (e.g., Laravel or CodeIgniter).

* Database Management: Write, test, and optimize database queries using MySQL or PostgreSQL to ensure data integrity and query efficiency.

* AI & API Integration: Support the team in integrating AI capabilities (such as OpenAI/Anthropic APIs, local LLMs, recommendation engines, or custom Python ML microservices) into existing web applications.

* API & Frontend Connectivity: Work with RESTful APIs, JSON endpoints, and JavaScript/AJAX to connect backend application logic with interactive frontend interfaces.

* Code Quality & Maintenance: Debug issues, perform initial unit tests, and write clean, readable code following standard MVC principles and version control practices.

* Team Collaboration: Participate in daily standups, code reviews, and sprint planning sessions with cross-functional team members.

Requirements & Qualifications

* Education:



Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications (B.Tech / BE / BCA / MCA / M.Sc CS).

* Core Programming: Fundamental knowledge of PHP and object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.

* Database Concepts: Basic understanding of relational database management systems (MySQL or PostgreSQL), including CRUD operations, joins, and indexing concepts.

* Web Fundamentals: Hands-on familiarity with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and HTTP/REST communication protocols.

* AI & Modern Tech Curiosity: Strong interest in practical AI applications, API consumption (e.g., prompt integration, text processing, embedding vectors), and software automation.

* Tools: Basic working knowledge of Git and GitHub/GitLab version control.

* Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and enthusiasm for building real-world software products.

Nice-to-Have Skills (Bonus)

* Prior project experience with Laravel, CodeIgniter, or modern e-commerce engines (e.g., WooCommerce, Magento, or custom cart builds).

* Basic experience scripting with Python or using AI libraries (LangChain, Hugging Face, or OpenAI SDKs).

* Exposure to Docker, Linux workplace commands, or cloud platforms (AWS, DigitalOcean).
