Key Responsibilities

- Perform and supervise routine and specialized laboratory investigations as per departmental protocols.
- Ensure proper collection, identification, labeling, processing, and storage of patient samples.
- Review test results for accuracy, completeness, and technical validity before reporting.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and other diagnostic equipment.
- Perform internal quality control and participate in external quality assurance programs.
- Monitor reagents, consumables, calibration, and equipment maintenance records.
- Ensure proper documentation of laboratory activities, QC records, temperature logs, maintenance logs, and test reports.
- Supervise and guide junior laboratory technologists, technicians, and support staff.
- Allocate duties and ensure adequate laboratory coverage as per workload and roster.
- Follow laboratory SOPs, infection-control practices, biosafety procedures, and biomedical waste management protocols.
- Identify and report critical values promptly to the concerned doctor/nursing team as per hospital policy.
- Coordinate with Pathologists, clinicians, nursing staff, and other departments regarding laboratory investigations.




- Investigate sample rejection, quality issues, equipment errors, and discrepancies and take appropriate corrective action.
- Ensure proper inventory control of reagents, kits, consumables, and other laboratory materials.
- Participate in internal audits, inspections, accreditation activities, and implementation of quality-management systems.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with hospital policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Train recent staff and provide technical guidance to laboratory team members.
- Ensure the laboratory is clean, organized, safe, and operational at all times.
- Perform any other laboratory-related duties assigned by the Laboratory Manager, Lab Director, or management.

Educational Qualification

- B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT) / B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Science / equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
