Purchase Executive – Domestic & International Procurement

About the Role

We are looking for a Purchase Executive responsible for domestic and international procurement, with solid exposure to China sourcing and plastic/glass packaging materials. The candidate will handle vendor identification, price negotiation, purchase orders, import coordination, delivery follow-up and supplier management.

Key Responsibilities

- Source plastic, glass and packaging materials from domestic as well as international suppliers, particularly China.
- Identify and develop new suppliers through Alibaba, Made-in-China, trade fairs, supplier networks and other sourcing platforms.
- Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, MOQ, lead time, payment terms and reliability.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, MOQ, production timelines and commercial terms with suppliers.
- Obtain quotations and conduct comparative analysis to ensure competitive procurement.
- Handle complete Purchase Order (PO) process and maintain proper purchase documentation.
- Coordinate with Chinese suppliers for samples, product specifications, quality requirements and production status.
- Follow up with suppliers for production, dispatch and shipment schedules.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, CHA/customs agents and logistics partners for international shipments.
- Handle and verify import-related documents such as Proforma Invoice, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading/AWB, Certificate of Origin and other required documents.
- Track landed cost, including product cost, freight, customs duty, IGST and other import-related charges.
- Monitor plastic/raw material market prices and identify opportunities for cost reduction.




- Coordinate with Production, Stores, Quality, Accounts and Sales to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Maintain optimum inventory levels and avoid stock-outs or excess inventory.
- Monitor supplier performance regarding quality, price, delivery and service.
- Develop alternate/backup suppliers to reduce procurement and supply risks.
- Maintain proper records of vendors, quotations, POs, pending orders and deliveries.
- Prepare regular purchase MIS, cost comparison and pending order reports.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of domestic and international procurement.
- Experience in China sourcing/import procurement is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of plastic/glass packaging materials and related products.
- Good understanding of import procedures, customs documentation and freight coordination.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Good knowledge of Excel and ERP/purchase software.
- Ability to compare quotations and calculate landed cost.
- Good communication and follow-up skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple suppliers and purchase requirements.

Preferred Candidate

- 2–5 years of experience in Purchase / Procurement / Sourcing.
- Experience in plastic packaging, glass packaging, manufacturing or trading will be preferred.
- Candidates with hands-on experience dealing with Chinese suppliers and imports from China will be strongly preferred.
- Good command of English for communication with international suppliers.
