# EDM Operator – Job Description An EDM Operator is responsible for operating and setting up Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) machines to manufacture precision components, moulds, dies, and tool parts as per engineering drawings and required specifications. The role includes setting workpieces, electrodes, machine parameters, offsets, and machining conditions, as well as monitoring the EDM process to achieve accurate dimensions and surface finish. The operator is responsible for electrode alignment, spark gap adjustment, flushing, dielectric fluid management, and monitoring electrode wear during machining. The job also involves inspecting finished components using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment, identifying machining defects,



and making necessary adjustments. The operator must maintain machine cleanliness, perform basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance, follow safety procedures, maintain production records, and coordinate with the tool room, quality, and production teams to achieve production targets while maintaining required quality and dimensional accuracy.
