Job Title: OT Technician - Scrub Side

Job Summary

To assist surgeons during surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile field and ensuring smooth OT workflow. Responsible for all scrub-side activities from patient entry to OT till closure.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

A. Pre-Operative Duties

Check OT schedule & type of surgery with OT In-charge a day prior.

Collect, check & sterilize all required instruments, linen, sutures, and disposables as per surgery.

Set up sterile trolleys: main instrument trolley, mayo stand, suture trolley.

Do surgical hand scrub, gowning & gloving using aseptic technique.

Assist in draping the patient and positioning.

Count swabs, instruments, needles before incision with circulating nurse. Record in OT register.

B. Intra-Operative Duties - Scrub Side

Maintain strict asepsis & sterile field throughout surgery.

Anticipate surgeon’s needs and pass instruments, sutures, swabs promptly.

Keep instrument table neat. Identify & separate used instruments.

Monitor swab, needle, instrument count during surgery. Inform surgeon before closure.

Handle specimens properly: label, preserve in formalin, hand over to circulating nurse.





Maintain blood loss record, urine output if needed.

Assist in hemostasis: pass cautery, suction, sponges.

C. Post-Operative Duties

Complete final count of swabs, instruments, needles with circulating nurse. Document & sign.

Help in applying dressings, shifting patient safely.

Send instruments for cleaning & sterilization via CSSD.

Discard sharps & biomedical waste as per BMW rules.

Clean OT table & prepare for next case.

D. General OT Duties

Check working of cautery, OT light, suction before case. Report faults.

Maintain logbook of instruments & equipment.

Indent required stock of sutures, disposables, drugs from OT store.

Follow NABH / BMW / Infection Control protocols.

Attend CNE programs, mock drills, fire safety training.

Qualifications & Experience

Education: 10+2 with Diploma in OT Technology / http://B.Sc OT Technology from recognized institute.

Registration: Paramedical council registration

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
