Senior Mold Designer – Plastic Injection Molding

Influential in the development of a state-of-the-art reusable tooling platform. Seeking a hands-on Senior Mold Designer to design complex production molds and develop a standardized, reusable tooling platform for high-volume plastic injection molding. The position is onsite in Eugene, Oregon, and nationwide candidates open to relocation are encouraged to apply.

About this Job

- Design high-volume production injection molds in SolidWorks, including gating, cooling, venting and ejection.
- Develop modular mold architectures using common mold bases, interchangeable inserts and cavities, and reusable tooling.
- Create 3D assemblies and detailed drawings with a focus on manufacturability, repeatability and scale.
- Partner with Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering and outside tool builders through build and validation.
- Use DFM, GD&T; and tolerance analysis to solve tooling and manufacturing challenges.
- Help shape a long-term tooling strategy that speeds product launches and reduces future capital investment.

The Qualifications

- 5+ years of plastic injection mold design experience, preferably high-volume or high-cavitation.
- Advanced SolidWorks skills and proven ownership of complete production mold designs.
- Experience with modular tooling, standardized mold bases, interchangeable inserts or cavities, or tooling reuse.
- Strong DFM, GD&T; and mold construction knowledge. Hot runners, valve gates, Moldflow/Moldex3D and HDPE are a plus.
