About SmatBot

SmatBot builds AI-powered automation solutions that help businesses boost customer engagement spanning both

self-serve product and managed-service engagements. We're a small, fast-moving team where this role will have direct, high-visibility ownership of how the market hears about us.

Role Summary

We're hiring a Growth Marketing Manager to own marketing end-to-end for SmatBot from ad-operations hygiene and campaign oversight, through ICP strategy and content, to founder-brand positioning. You'll direct a third-party

performance marketing agency rather than run paid media yourself, which means the value you add is in strategy, judgement, and follow-through on deciding who we target, what we say to them, and relentlessly tracking whether it actually turns into closed revenue. This is a highly independent, ideas-first role for someone comfortable operating in the SaaS space without a playbook, and fluent in using AI tools to move faster than a traditional marketer would.

Key Responsibilities

1. Ad Account & Campaign Operations

- Manage invoicing for Google Ads and Meta Ads accounts: download TDS certificates and reconcile them with finance on schedule.
- Ensure ad accounts are always funded; no campaign should ever pause due to a billing or top-up gap.
- Monitor campaigns daily to confirm they are running seamlessly, catching disapprovals, delivery drops, or budget exhaustion before they become a problem.

2. Performance Agency Liaison

- Act as the primary point of contact for our third-party performance marketing agency, who executes the paid campaigns.
- Brief the agency on targeting, messaging, and creative direction; review their plans and hold them accountable to pacing and output.
- Translate your own ICP and positioning thinking into campaign briefs the agency can execute against.

3. ICP Strategy & Positioning

- Own ICP mapping for both our product and our managed-services offering. Who they are, what they care about, and where they spend their time.
- Decide the channel and platform mix (LinkedIn, industry communities, other platforms) based on that ICP research: this ideation is expected to originate from you, not be handed to you.
- Create content aligned to ICP and platform: written, visual, and video, in partnership with design/editing resources as needed.
- Independently generate new positioning and campaign ideas suited to the SaaS space we operate in.

4. Pipeline Quality & Closure Diagnostics

- Track marketing's contribution not by lead volume but by closed revenue. How many marketing-sourced leads actually convert to closed deals.
- For every lead that does not close, investigate and document why: targeting failure, messaging/communication failure, sales handoff failure, or something else.
- Use those findings to adjust ICP definition, targeting, and messaging, and propose alternative strategies where the current approach isn't converting.

5.

Content, Hygiene & Founder Positioning

- Case studies: source outcomes and inputs from the Customer Success team, and write them up.
- Testimonials: collect customer testimonials and manage video shoots with third-party vendors end-to-end.
- Own the full post-production pipeline, raw footage from vendors, edits from the editor, final cuts, and publish across the relevant social platforms.
- Create decks and SEO-focused blogs, and ghostwrite content for both founders.
- Build and manage both founders' LinkedIn presence, growing their network, publishing content, driving engagement, and generating leads from both founder and company pages. This is primarily a positioning exercise, not a volume play.

6. AI-Native Execution

- Use AI tools as a default part of the workflow — e.g. Claude for research/writing/strategy, and generative tools such as Nano Banana and ComfyUI for creative and visual output.
- Stay current on new AI-native marketing tooling and bring efficiency gains into the role proactively.

Key Result Areas (KRAs)

The broad areas this role is accountable for owning, end to end:

KRA

Ownership

Ad Account & Campaign Operations

Invoicing, TDS certificates, fund top-ups, and campaign uptime across Google and Meta.

Agency Management

Briefing, reviewing, and holding the third-party performance marketing agency accountable.

ICP & GTM Strategy

ICP mapping for product and managed services; platform/channel strategy; campaign ideation.

Pipeline Quality & Closure Diagnostics

Marketing-to-closed-revenue tracking and root-cause analysis on every non-closure.

Content & Founder Positioning

Case studies, testimonials, video pipeline, SEO blogs/decks, and founders' LinkedIn presence.

AI-Native Execution

Adoption of AI tools (Claude, Nano Banana, ComfyUI, etc.) as a default part of how work gets done.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Primary — what this role is actually judged on

- Marketing-sourced lead-to-closed-deal conversion rate (the north-star metric for this role).
- Number and value of closed deals sourced from marketing per quarter.
- % of unclosed marketing leads with a documented root-cause (targeting / messaging / handoff / other) within 5 business days of being marked lost.
- Zero campaign downtime caused by invoicing or funding lapses on Google or Meta accounts.
- On-time TDS certificate collection and reconciliation (100% within each billing cycle).
- Agency SLA adherence: briefs delivered and agency output reviewed on schedule.
- Content and hygiene throughput: case studies, testimonials, SEO blogs, and LinkedIn posts published per month.
- Founders' LinkedIn growth:

connection/engagement growth and inbound leads generated from founder and company pages.

Tracked, but explicitly not the target

Total leads, marketing-qualified leads, cost per lead (CPL), and cost per mille (CPM) will continue to be monitored as diagnostic signals — they help explain why something did or didn't work, but this role is not measured against volume or cost-efficiency targets on these metrics. The only outcome that counts is closed revenue.

Sample OKRs (Quarterly)

Illustrative — actual targets to be finalized with the founders each quarter.

Objective 1: Make marketing a reliable revenue engine, not a lead-volume engine

– KR1: Improve marketing-sourced lead-to-closed conversion rate to an agreed target by quarter-end.

– KR2: 100% of lost marketing leads tagged with a documented root-cause within 5 days of loss.

– KR3: Zero campaign downtime due to invoicing/funding lapses across Google & Meta for the full quarter.

Objective 2: Build a sharp, ICP-led content and positioning engine

– KR1: Publish an agreed number of case studies and testimonials, sourced and produced end-to-end.

– KR2: Ship a documented ICP map (product + managed services) with a channel/platform strategy, reviewed quarterly.

– KR3: Grow founders' combined LinkedIn engagement by an agreed % and generate a target number of inbound leads from founder/company pages.

Objective 3: Operate as an independent, AI-native marketing function

– KR1: Embed an agreed number of AI tools into weekly workflow across content, creative, and research.

– KR2: Own end-to-end creative/content briefs for campaigns, reducing reliance on the agency for ideation.

What We're Looking For

- 2–4 years of experience in marketing, ideally in a B2B SaaS or rapid-moving startup environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and originate ideas, this is not a role for someone who needs a detailed brief to get started.
- Comfort with ad-platform operations (Google Ads, Meta Ads) even without hands-on media-buying, you'll manage billing, TDS, and monitor delivery, and brief an agency that runs the campaigns.
- Strong writing and content instincts, you'll ghostwrite for founders, write blogs, and build decks.
- Analytical enough to diagnose why a lead didn't close, not just report that it didn't.
- Genuinely curious about and comfortable with AI tools, Claude or similar LLMs, and generative tools such as Nano Banana and ComfyUI, as part of daily work, not a novelty.
- Experience coordinating third-party vendors or agencies (performance marketing agencies, video production vendors) is a strong plus.
