Job Description: Assistant Manager / Manager – Development

Department: Development
Reporting To: Head Technology

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Management

- Manage the complete part development lifecycle from concept to final handover (FTG).
- Perform requirement analysis and finalize design specifications.
- Plan and monitor prototype development, testing, and validation activities.
- Ensure adherence to timelines, quality standards, and cost targets.

2. RFQ Analysis

- Conduct detailed RFQ analysis for feasibility assessment.
- Define process design, tooling sequence operations (TSO), and tooling concepts.
- Provide inputs for cost estimation and technical feasibility.

3. Prototype Development

- Develop prototypes as per customer specifications and standards.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams for trials and validation.
- Analyze test results and implement design/process modifications.

4. New Product Development (NPD)

- Lead development of new parts as per design intent.
- Translate customer models into manufacturable designs while maintaining quality standards.
- Ensure smooth transition from development to production.

5. FTG (First Time Gauge) Development

- Finalize FTG concepts, methods, and validation plans.
- Ensure timely development and deployment of FTG as per quality requirements.
- Coordinate with tool room and quality teams for implementation.

6. Product & Process Change Management

- Implement Engineering Change Notes (ECN) using 4M framework (Man, Machine, Method, Material).




- Ensure proper documentation and communication of changes.
- Evaluate impact of changes on quality, cost, and delivery.

7. Process Improvement

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as Value Engineering, Kaizen, and Poka-Yoke.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and productivity improvement.
- Implement best practices to enhance process efficiency.

8. Customer Servicing

- Collaborate with internal and external customers for new developments and improvements.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through effective communication and timely delivery.
- Participate in customer meetings, audits, and reviews.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Strong project management and coordination skills
- Sound knowledge of automotive development processes
- Expertise in tooling, process design, and feasibility analysis
- Problem-solving and analytical ability
- Effective communication and stakeholder management

Technical Skills

- Proficient in NX, AutoCAD, and Form Suite software
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as sheet metal, fabrication, and tooling

Qualification & Experience

- Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Production Engineering or related field
- Experience: Minimum 8–10 years in automotive recent part development
