Job Description: Software Developement Engineer (Scala/Play Framework)

Location: Mohali,Punjab

Role: Full Time (On site)

Experience Required: 4 Years

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Software Developer with 4 years of experience in backend development using Scala and the Play Framework, along with strong exposure to Kafka-based event-driven architectures. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of client coordination, technical documentation, and hands-on development in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities

Client Coordination & Requirements

- Liaise with clients on development-related discussions, requirement gathering, and clarifications
- Coordinate ongoing project activities and provide timely updates on development progress

Development Documentation

- Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for development activities and system changes
- Ensure documentation remains up to date to support team collaboration and knowledge transfer

Kafka Events & Messaging

- Document Kafka events, message structures, and event flows
- Support better understanding and long-term maintainability of the messaging architecture across teams

Backend Development (Scala & Play Framework)

- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Scala and the Play Framework
- Implement enhancements, bug fixes, and maintenance tasks in existing codebases
- Handle low-to-medium priority development requirements independently





Technical Support & Maintenance

- Troubleshoot and resolve development-related issues and production bugs
- Perform minor code changes, patches, and technical fixes as required
- Provide ongoing technical support to ensure system stability

Required Skills & Qualifications

- 4+ years of hands-on experience in software development
- Robust proficiency in Scala and the Play Framework
- Working knowledge of Apache Kafka (event structures, producers/consumers, message flows)
- Experience with client-facing communication and requirement discussions
- Strong documentation skills, with ability to write clear technical specs
- Good understanding of software maintenance and support practices
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field

Good to Have

- Familiarity with RESTful API design and microservices architecture
- Exposure to version control tools (Git) and Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines
